Its well lit and its clientele is affluent. Not a dive bar.

WPT is a college bar. I feel like it's more of a Hemmingways than an Uncle Jimmy's

I suppose this is mostly from my experience when I went there and was not an old person, but it was mostly mid-20s yuppies and college kids.

Uncle Jimmy's is the quintessential true dive bar.

I lived on Welsford too. Here's a fun fact, the basement of the zulema street apartment building is now a diy concert venue.

I was at 20, one of the row houses.

And, I'm not sure how Mardi Gras can be considered a Dive Bar

yes
Whats the deal with this place? I see the signs out front. Is it the garage behind that building? The signs and drink specials look ok. I just don't know where it is (or what will happen to me when I get there).
When you see the sign, turn and go through the space in the fence (almost like a small gate). It's behind whatever bar is on the street (or that garage I guess... gotta keep going).

Small place, but not bad.

The Jefferson Hotel in beautiful dahn tahn Jefferson is the place for me. I don't get back there much these days but that's where I go.
Everybody knows everybody. Draft beer is cheap. The food's really good and inexpensive too.
The owner's my age so the selection on the juke box is right up my alley.
They just need to turn the damned thing down a bit. Other than that, it's a swingin' joint!
