i retract my previous statement based on a reading deficiency.
Damn switching of pounds and tons in one thought threw me.

Lake Erie is 94% frozen...that's pretty cool

Pretty wild that in October/November/early December the relative warmth of the lake buries Erie and surrounding areas in lake effect snow, and now it is a solid sheet of ice.

Re: The Weather Thread
You used pounds for truck and stone and tons for salt. I just read all as pounds. 15,000 truck and 10,000 salt. 25, 000 pounds. 12.5 tons.mac5155 wrote:20k salt, 15k truck... add in fuel, plow weight.. what am I missing?blackjack68 wrote:That's like 12.5 tons.mac5155 wrote:Those things can haul about 25k pounds of stone, so I'd imagine he had 10 tons of salt in the dump bed if so... combined with a roughly 15k vehicle weight, that's probably well over 20 tons of weight on 8 square feet of parking garage.MRandall25 wrote:From what I've read, there was a parking garage underneath there. I've since seen the error in my reading and have retracted my claim of 12.5 tons.

I had layers of shirts, socks, and cuddleduds to remove at work. Bitter!
You know it's been cold when 10 or 14 seems a relief.

So nice seeing all the school kids run around the mall parking lot. Too cold to go to a bus stop but hey kids enjoy your day off and go play outside.

Re: The Weather Thread
Let's see how happy they are when they are still in school in the middle of June haha.
Really though you guys sounds like a bunch of sourpusses lol. You all loved non-planned days off of school when you were that age. we all did. It sucks we all have real jobs now but it is what it is. We were all kids, and probably obnoxious kids, at one time.

Re: The Weather Thread
Yeah I loved them because there were like 10 of them in my 12 year schooling career. I'm not jealous, I just think its retarded to keep kids home because of the cold and then they end up going out in the cold anyway. Don't even give me the "they have to stand at the bus stop" excuse either. The freakin buses pick em up at each of their houses and the kids in the bus I get stuck behind wait in the house until the bus pulls up!

Re: The Weather Thread
Heck, the one guy today at work said there was a swim meet tomorrow at his daughters school. The coach wanted the team to practice, so he had to take his daughter to the local YMCA at 7 am this morning to practice since school was closed. Isnt the point of canceling school so they stay inside and not have to venture out? It just is back asswards to me. That's like me calling in sick from work cause I don't want to infect anyone and then going out to shop at the mall.

The point of canceling school on low temperatures is so the school isn't liable for some dumb*** parent sending their child out in the cold with short sleeves or something stupid.

I think if I had children that would irritate the crap out of me. Hell I don't have children and it mildly perturbs me
