A forehead scanner is susceptible to giving false positives at the margins. Reading a 100° temp could be the result of anything from harsh lighting to the mood of the person being scanned.
Instead of immediately detaining her, they should have simply taken her temp normally. If that came back high, then make her do the testing and whatnot. I think she still (rightly) bristles at the language Christie uses, saying she was released as soon as she was not symptomatic.... she asserts she never was symptomatic.

I'm sure they don't want people giving oral temp scans on those that just came back from an Ebola hot zone in an airport. I'm sure they'd rather that be done at an actual hospital.
