This aggravates me. In other news for The Show, here's the top rated players in the game at each position.Loaf31 wrote:I don't see one coming, honestly. Love The Show. Shows what you can do when you're not EA.
I downloaded it. Probably won't play it till summer but the thing looks pretty great.Digitalgypsy66 wrote:Valiant Hearts is the PSN Plus freebie for March. Great reviews, and I almost bought it for the PC a while ago.

Might jump back on FFXIV with an expansion coming out soon. Plus, the last patch added triple triad at the Golden Saucer. I probably had dreams of that when playing VII and VIII.

It's depressing that Xbox still does not have a legit baseball game three generations in.Loaf31 wrote:I don't see one coming, honestly. I always used the cave girl (Ayla?), Magus, & the main character in that game.
And I saw that update to FFXIV... I might try to pick it up again & see how it is.

Finally finished Darksiders 2. Awesome adventure. One negative thing was so many things to find with no gizmo to locate them (like in the first), that I had to use youtube walkthroughs, but well worth it for the extra skill points and such - I managed to find everything. Great story, combat, and graphics.

Do you think they will have a demo for the Show?

Wouldn't count on it. Wasn't one last year at least on Ps4, not sure on Ps3. Demo's are few and far between these days.Digitalgypsy66 wrote:Do you think they will have a demo for the Show?

PS4 for me.dodint wrote:Which platform?Digitalgypsy66 wrote:Do you think they will have a demo for the Show?
I know demos don't really happen anymore, but it was nice to try NHL 15 on the PS4.
I haven't played a baseball game since...oh, maybe Sega Genesis? I was just curious to see if The Show is fun enough for a novice, or is it like Madden with 4000 plays and settings.

Ah. I was going to say I would give you my copy of Show14 for PS3 so you could try it out.
It has different control settings. Like when you bat, you can pick high detailed stuff like angle and timing, or you can just use a single button to swing just using timing. It's pretty good at letting you pick your learning curve. I picked it up really quick and I was jumping from Baseball Stars for the 8-bit NES to The Show for the PS3. The trickiest part for me was base-running, but I've got it down pat now.
Totally unrelated, but I pre-ordered Project CARS today. I really hope it delivers on its promises and gives me everything GT6 doesn't.

Re: Current video game being played
Just started Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3. One of those older games that I never got around to trying. I'm about an hour and a half in, and I already care about the story/characters. The cell shaded artwork is fantastic, and the turn-based combat strategy (similar to XCOM) is challenging/rewarding. Really looking forward to see how this one goes!

Shows my bias, but I've always been most comfortable with the Xbox controller, and to me this shows they got it right from the start. Just a little tweaking from the initial to the current generation is all that has been needed.

It does show your bias if you can look at the PS line and think it has changed more than the XBox line. Maybe I'm reading too deep into your comment, though.
The one thing that I don't like about the PS4 gif is that it misrepresents the growth from PS3 to PS4. They're not the same width. Cool, regardless.

Re: Current video game being played
the first controller was big in retrospect, the 360 controller was perfect though. Enough bigger than the playstation one to be able to be used by an adult, but not too big.

I love the PS4 controller, but I'm a big handed doof.
Dreamcast is probably still my all time favorite.

Ummm, the first PS controller had *no* thumbsticks... I'd say that it a pretty huge change. But, yes, there has not been that much of a PS evolution since then. The bias comment referred to the fact that I've always preferred the feel of the xbox controller line, for my hands, and it has been consistent through the generations. For someone that prefers the PS feel, I can see how they would feel the same way. (They're just wrong.)

I didn't really even consider the thumbsticks. I really prefer to use the d-pad when possible, like with GT-6. Call me old if you want.
Also, the PS had a 7 year jump on the XBox. Weird that they're pretty much equal now.

The original PS came out post college for me, and to me, still offered a crap-console controller. I was a flight instructor, making squat for money, and still PC gaming with hardware I could take from one generation to the next. Nothing in console gaming at the time could hold my interest. The dual shock controller (and originator to all the current gen controllers that I like) that could have changed my opinion, came at a time that I was changing careers, moving all over country, and couldn't spare a dime (the PS2 followed shortly after, and in the same timeframe in my life). By the time things settled down and I moved into my first house, the original X-Box was born. It was perfect timing, it had games I was interested in, and I loved the controller. Still have my original X-Box hooked up. Went to the 360 when it was released, loved it, and still do. I still play the 360 all the time and still game on the PC. I haven't bothered with the current gen consoles, because I have not seen anything compelling about the Xbox One or the PS4.
Way too long an explanation, and it really comes down to timing and circumstance, but for me the Xbox controller has been what I've evolved with, and that which I am most comfortable. No thumbsticks, and I don't get back into console gaming, because that is what allowed me to approximate joystick gaming on the PC.

Re: Current video game being played
The original Xbox controller was a huge monstrosity. Even for someone with big hands like me. When they released the 2nd version of it .. it was pretty much perfect. The 360 and XB1 controllers are pretty similar and still feel really good.
Sony got gradually better. The Ps1 controller sucked. PS2 wasn't bad, and PS3 was pretty good. The PS4 one is really good and it feels like they finally have it fine tuned.
