I saw a "D. Norris" on a farm team. Is that Dan Norris, or am I good with my pick?

Beerman and I were under the assumption that D. Norris = Dan Norris. I was looking at taking him a few rounds ago.schreibdog wrote:I saw a "D. Norris" on a farm team. Is that Dan Norris, or am I good with my pick?

Re: LGP Fantasy Baseball League
Somebody put "Derrick" but i assumed it was daniel because A. Derrick is the wrong spelling and B. Derek Norris no longer has farm eligibility.
We need to make sure we use full names

Yes sorry. I have Dan Norris, I accidentally typed Derrick Norris once and carried it over once or twice.

I am assuming Olivera can be drafted since Moncada was drafted without being under contract.

Re: LGP Fantasy Baseball League
did we have a date where international guys had to be signed by?
It seems like this cuba defector thing has been all over the place the last couple of years.

The rules say the player has to be signed. I'll re-pick. We should've caught Moncada, though. His contract is not yet official.

I don't think there is any logical course for olivera.
I think the most fair course would be to allow you to draft him, but he'd have to go to your major league roster.

I think moncada is legit because he had an agreement in place prior to the draft... i was actually shocked to see a day or 2 later it wasnt even official. I say olivera is no go...
What about signing him in season though?

The purpose of the rule is to prevent people from stashing touted international prospects before they reach their signing period. The same reason you wouldn't be able to draft prospects.

In that case it would have to be to the ML roster and not to your farm team.Mr. Colby wrote:I think moncada is legit because he had an agreement in place prior to the draft... i was actually shocked to see a day or 2 later it wasnt even official. I say olivera is no go...

So, with Oliveria I think it's fair to draft him, but you'd have to keep on the ML roster and he'd count against the salary cap

He's going to be signed before the draft is over, and he will be drafted for whatever lucky drafter happens to be picking when he's signed.

Re: LGP Fantasy Baseball League
We should get a ruling on this for next year... I'd say "agree to terms" is good enough to make the player draft eligible. I mean baseball takes forever officializing that stuff... even FA signings arent actually official until a week or two after.
Then if an Olivera situation cones around, you can't draft him but you can sign him mid year to a major league deal. Thoughts?
Also i took Aledmys Diaz last year which is no good

I agree with you... no drafting players who aren't signed by the first pickKraftster wrote:He's going to be signed before the draft is over, and he will be drafted for whatever lucky drafter happens to be picking when he's signed.

I'm confused about the mid-year stuff. Obviously if he's signed by someone after the draft he's eligible to be picked up off of FA.

Re: LGP Fantasy Baseball League
I was looking at him and considering selecting him. It didnt occur to me that he may not be eligible. I do kind of agree with colby though on the first pick thing. At least he would have needed declared FA by first pick.

Re: LGP Fantasy Baseball League
Moncada is a different story... his deal was announced with the sox well before the draft, just not completely finalized
