Steelers inquired today on free-agent CB Darrelle Revis. Unrealistic. Sounds like it's down to Jets and Patriots.

That's an odd thing to post about the Steelers in relation to the Bengals signing Hawk, a thoroughly mediocre linebacker.

He'll be more use to the Bengals than Spaeth will be to the Steelers.

Really? That's the bait we're using to complain about the Steelers in free agency now? The Steelers re-signing a backup tight end who is basically used as an extra tackle and plays 35% of the offensive snaps and is gonna make veteran minimum to the Bengals signing an awful linebacker for too much money? I'll take that move every day of the week.

The final deal, according to Schefty is: Bradford + 5th for Foles + 4th + cond. 2nd ('16) -> Condition based on games played by Bradford it seems...

Is it just me, or are nfl players big babies when it comes to wanting to get out of cities? I understand hockey players do it as well, it's just my opinion that they mostly have paid their dues and at least gave said city a shot. I know rebuilds are different, but you look at Toronto maple leafs and a majority of players want to stay and be part of the rebuild, that's just what I heard on hockey central so take it with a grain of pepper
the time to make money seems shorter in the NFL. Being on a bad team hurts your stats and lowers how much you can cash in later.

Eagles fans are beside themselves that the Rams and Eagles didn't swap 1st rounders this year so it would be easier for them to trade up for Mariotta.

Considering the average playing career in the NFL is almost a full season shorter than a rookie contract, I can't really say I blame NFLers for following the money. And with the cap situation, I imagine most players who stay past their rookie deal only get one shot to negotiate a big number contract.

I would add to that in just this past week we've seen three guys retire before the age of 30 largely due to injury. I think we're going to see a rise in players who try to get paid and then call it a career before they end up crippled.

And that Foles-Bradford deal is somehow worse than I expected. Chip Kelly has lost his mind.

Hmm...seems like Schefter is saying now it's more like this:

Bradford + 5th + Conditional 3rd or 4th (2016; based on games played) for Foles + 4th + 2nd (2016)

My own interpretation based on what I thought I saw, so fact checking is necessary: I think there's three tiers to the condition: 3rd (no games), 4th (50% of games), nothing (any other result). The Eagles 2nd in 2016 is not conditional, as previously reported...

So basically, we can put to bed this Mariota speculation I think...because they're really running out of assets, right? Talking with Eagles fans who believed that they swapped #20 for #10 in the deal (the wet dream conjured up by Philadelphia sports radio, which has talked about Mariota relentlessly) in the office tomorrow should be fun...water cooler is going to be replaced by bleach I'm guessing...

lol, WOW at that Eagles deal. When the trade was first announced, callers into Missanelli were basically assuming it was a first-round pick swap this year. I honestly have no idea what the Eagles are doing at this point. The McCoy trade made sense, letting Maclin go kinda made sense, this is out of frigging left field.

This gets more crazy, word is that Chip "came hard" after Bradford, and really pulled some stops to bring him into Philly. So in his couple of years here, Kelly removes every offensive playmaker they have, and gives up a pretty good haul to bring in Sam Bradford, a guy that has either sucked or been injured during his five year career.

There is no way you can tell me that Bradford is better than Foles. Kelly is wielding his unilateral GM power, and IMO, he is getting absolutely fleeced by general managers that actually know what they are doing.

So, remember how Brady reworked his deal and the media sycophants said this was done to help them keep Revis? Yeah, Revis signed with the Jets.

There's really no way that Foles is more talented than Sam Bradford. The knock on Bradford - besides not being a world-beater himself - is that he can't stay on the field. Foles is basically a slightly more refined Mike Glennon...he's a weak starter, if that...Bradford has him beat or beat badly on arm talent and mobility and upside and mental capacity for the game...
