Doesn't matter. RMU is taking them out.

@ESPNStatsInfo: Michigan State's 0 points in OT are tied for the fewest all-time by any team in an OT period.
You don't say.

In 2 of the last 3 years, Duke lost in the first round as a #2 and #3 seed. Might as well make history and lose as a #1 too!

So Duke, who clearly doesn't deserve it, gets the 1 seed and, on top of that, gets by far the easiest bracket. Dick Vitale needs new underwear.

simply out of curiosity, who should be a #1 seed instead of duke? Seemed like every prediction out there had them as a #1. Kentucky, Duke and Nova all seemed like locks as #1 in the predictions and it was Virginia, Wisconsin, and Arizona were fighting for that last #1 and Wisconsin locked it up with a B1G title.

Yeah, thought it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that Duke was a 1 seed.

Virginia should have been a #1 over them. A number 1 seed should at least win their conference in either the regular season or the conference tournament.

Even though Duke beat UVA?

Why? Duke beat Virginia at Virginia in their one meeting, had only one less conference win, and had better conference wins. They also were better out of conference, and had a tougher schedule outside the ACC.

Yeah Duke beat Virginia but Virginia doesn't have the horrible losses against teams like NC State and Miami on their resume. All 3 of Virginia's losses were against top 20 teams with their worst loss being 6 points. 3 of Duke's 4 losses have been by 10+ points.

That has to do with style of play. Virginia isn't in high scoring games. They play tight defensive games, so they aren't going to get blown out.

And Miami and NC State aren't horrible losses. I'd rather have a team that has those losses combined with beating more good teams.

Yet despite that Duke has the higher RPI and more wins against teams in the top 25 of the RPI. NC State and Miami aren't horrible teams. Duke played UNC, Wake, Syracuse and ND (12, 145, 68 and 15 in RPI) twice this year. UVA played VT, Louisville, NC State and Wake (227, 21, 41, 145). Wake cancels out. UVA won the ACC in no small part due to their conference schedule. UVA really needed to either get to the ACCT final or have Wisconsin blow their tourney.

Virginia is 5-3 against ranked opponents, Duke is 6-2. Virginia has beaten Maryland, Notre Dame, North Carolina, and Louisville but I guess they haven't beaten any good teams

The difference between the 2 teams is that Virginia will at worst make it to the Elite 8 at worst while Duke will find a way to lose early on in the tournament. I guess giving Duke the #1 seed is the committee hoping they don't lose to a 14/15 seed like they have been known to do recently.

I just did a bracket after having watched the least college basketball i've ever watched. I felt like I was basically picking the teams with the best color schemes. I think I watched a collective game and a half this year and didn't even watch one full half at any point.

I didn't say they didn't have good wins. They just had less of them. Also, Maryland is the "luckiest" team by advanced metrics. I'll pick Duke to go further than Virginia.

Like I said, I haven't watched much this year, but you realize that 6-2 is better than 5-3, right? What are you trying to argue with that information?

Virginia is one of the most sound defensive teams in the nation. Duke lives and dies by the 3, as always. You sincerely believe Duke will make it further?

If Duke can survive the RMU/UNF winner, St. Johns will take them out. Book it.

I think Virginia will lose to MSU in the second round.

You can thank those that put together the bracket for putting Virginia in theirs while Duke faces virtually no threat unless they face up with Gonzaga.

Well, yeah, the bracket is part of the reason I think Duke will go further.

I read somewhere that the selection committee doesn't actually try to make match-ups. They typically just rank teams from top to bottom and fill them in... who knows if that's true or not.
