Re: NFL
It's just way too drawn out now. They need time for all the talking heads to blab about **** no one really cares about. They actually get backed up announcing picks because of it. Just silly.
I just read who dem Stillers drafted at this point and avoid the circus.

Re: NFL
If the really want to highlight the Pittsburgh experience they should do the announce while stuck in traffic within the Squirrel Hill Tunnel.Dickie Dunn wrote:Yea but this year with the revolutionary changes introduced by the NFL, the Steelers could announce their 7th round pick from inside Primanti's. How could someone possibly miss such a magical experience?

They would try but they would get Viking'd by missing their time because they have no cell phone reception.

Re: NFL
Chris Borland who retired from the 49ers last week is paying back 3/4 of his signing bonus to the team. Thus only getting paid for what he actually did. Gotta say that is a classy move.

Re: NFL
Maybe for once it's not about the money and he felt in good faith he needed to pay it back. I doubt the 49ers would have went after him for it, but who knows. It sounds like for once an athlete was being honest when they said it wasn't about the money. Between his base salary and his bonus that he is keeping he made around 500k last year... that's not bad to start out life with since he won't have any loans to pay off or anything, and he doesn't seem like the kind of guy to spend lavishly.ulf wrote:For as smart as he is for walking away that is moronicskullman80 wrote:Chris Borland who retired from the 49ers last week is paying back 3/4 of his signing bonus to the team. NFL ends blackout rule for 2015
The NFL will suspend its blackout policy for the 2015-16 season, league spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed. The move is just for this upcoming season, and after the fact the NFL will review the policy to see how it played out, according to Kevin Clark of the Wall Street Journal.
The league's blackout policy hasn't made sense in a long time, and nobody has ever been able to point to proof that it actually results in more people attending games. The blackout rule came into effect when teams did not sell out 85 percent of their non-premium tickets for a home game within 72 hours of kickoff. In that event, the designated "home area" for viewers would be blacked out on television.

Re: NFL
Blackouts don't make sense anyway. You don't have enough fans to buy tickets so we're not gonna let you be on TV where you might get new fans that might want to spend money but now won't because they can't watch the team to become a fan.
