Well done! I am sure it took some time to do all that, effort well spent! Great work, site looks nice, fun read and beautiful jerseys :fist:

Anyone got any inside info about what jerseys the Pens will wear next year? Is the 3rd jersey coming back again as 3rd jersey? I am scared they will bury it again :-(

I'd be shocked if they changed anything. I think they'll keep all three as is for next year.

I am going to guess it will stay, and eventually become the new home jersey with a road jersey to match within the next few years.

jeffshly, I thoroughly enjoyed your website! I especially liked your back stories on how the jersey's came into your collection. I successfully killed an hour at work reading about them. Keep up the good work!

MarsB, thanks for the kind words. It was pretty cool recalling the stories behind each one and I had a lot of fun putting the site together, once I decided to include all the backstories. I just finished a pretty heavy remodel in the house, so who knows when the next addition will be made. Part of my enjoyment is finding the "killer deals," so those don't come along all that often, but I try to add a couple each year.

Are we looking at the end of Reebok-branded jerseys? I'm watching last night's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton game against Norfolk and the Baby Pens' home whites are, by and large, Reebok jerseys. Howiever, a close-up of Pens defenseman Nick D'Agostino very clearly shows that he's wearing a CCM jersey. We all know that the Reebok Edge 2.0's are made at the CCM factory that Reebok bought some years back, but I'm wondering what the significance of the CCM branding is, if there is any.

Reebok is mostly leaving hockey. I think I've heard that they will continue to have RBK branded lower-end equipment and therefore Crosby will continue to be a poster boy.
Malkin is a good example though. he switched from Bauer X60 gloves (briefly tried Warrior Coverts) to Reebok 11k gloves last year. with the change over from Reebok to CCM his gloves are now branded as CCM even though they are the same gloves.

Good to know, shoeshine boy. Thanks for the information. I find it funny, though, that half of WBS's jerseys are branded as Reebok and the other half are CCM's. Of course, they're the same jersey, but these branding changes typically happen between seasons. Makes me wonder if it wasn't a quick decision of some sort. Either way, it's good to see a CCM logo back on jerseys. It just fits better than Reebok!

Don't get too comfortable... It could all be Adidas branding someday.

Beware of this jersey on eBay. People are actually bidding on it as a game worn jersey. http://www.ebay.com/itm/07-08-NHL-WINTE ... 540383054?

What's the tip-off for that being fake?

Oh lord, let me count the ways!
- There's what seems to be a three-foot-long shoelace through the neckline;
- The triangle on the Penguins logo on the crest is Vegas Gold, not Pittsburgh Gold;
- The fight strap is sewn to a piece of blue jersey material, as opposed to being sewn onto a more rigid white piece, which is then sewn to the jersey;
- The lettering is nowhere near what the gamers were;
- The neck tag is actually sewn in upside down;
- And the winner is...there's a tag inside the jersey stating it was authenticated by The MeiGray "Groop!"

Believe it or not, I actually have one of the knockoffs, complete with a "MeiGray Groop" tag bearing the exact same serial number, E05768. I also have an authentic of this jersey. Compare these two jerseys, then compare to the eBay jersey. It's painfully obvious that the eBay jersey, which is being sold as game-worn with a $150 bid on it right now, is a fake.

Compare http://jeffshly.weebly.com/2008-reebok- ... rosby.html versus http://jeffshly.weebly.com/2008-09-reeb ... staal.html. I can provide more pictures if need be. You can also compare the eBay jersey (focus on the lettering, the crest, and the lace in the neck) to this photo of Letang from the 2008 Winter Classic: http://icethetics.squarespace.com/winte ... 08/4336790.

LOL. The jersey is gone from ebay. Did you report the auction? Has ebay finally been cracking down on fake jerseys?

I didn't report it, but I did send a message to the seller explaining that the jersey was very, very fake and that he could potentially be opening himself up to all sorts of problems if the buyer had any knowledge about game-worn jerseys. So it was pulled? Good stuff! At least no one's gonna get screwed on this one.

Ebay may have pulled it. I have a friend who sells various jerseys on Ebay. recently I did a major clean out of my basement and told him that if he'd list my jerseys I'd split the $$$ 50/50 with him. one jersey was an Oilers Gretzky jersey that was a fake. it was well-made but they used the wrong jersey. Born Trade refunded my money and told me to keep the jersey. my buddy told me that if he listed it Ebay would suspend him so they must watch pretty closely. I told my friend to just throw it in the pile for Goodwill.

Thanks for sharing this.

I have heard that ebay might PERMANENTLY suspend ebay account for such offenses at any time - and this means you are not allowed to create a new account either. So basicly, you risk losing your right to sell stuff on ebay for life! I would hope you get a warning at least, before that happens, but ebay works in mysterious ways, so better be safe than sorry I reckon.

What have we got here?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Pittsbu ... true&rt=nc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A 1996-1997 3rd jersey with fight strap. Seller stated the size is Large. Which is not an authentic size. Inside collar has the CENTER ICE tagging and what looks to be a replica size tag (which is hidden in the photo)

Is it a team issue jersey? Or some kind of home cooking?

My vote is home-cooking. Why would the team issue a replica with a fight strap?

This is a really strange looking jersey. In the neck, it has the Center Ice tag that was in the CCM authentics as well as the starter replica tag. The hanger blocks the size. The crest on the front of the jersey looks authentic, as is has the rows of stitching through the middle of the crest. The replicas didn't have this. However, the location of the fight strap is really high. It's sewn into the jersey on the gray portion of the striping. On the authentic that I have, the fight strap is sewn below the striping on a black section of the jersey.

The first time I saw a knockoff jersey was on one of these. I bought a size 54 "authentic" Starter jersey that had different neck tagging (the "54-R" tag that was common in Starter jerseys was there), but it actually measured to a size 46. I actually enlisted the help of the owner of penguinjersey.com, which later became pittsburghhockey.net, to help me dis-authenticate the jersey so I could get a refund on it through eBay. I wonder if this was one of these knockoffs or, as suggested earlier, this one just might be the result of some home cooking.

Either way, it sold for $46, which as a replica of the era, is about where it should be. Good to see no one got screwed on this deal.

I agree. something about the fight strap doesn't seem right. almost looks like it was sewn in too high.

Found a real gem for you guys:

A 1993 STARTER jersey, with the 1992 Stanley Cup patch. (only problem its a 1996-1997 starter jersey)

Only 699$

:lol:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARIO-LEMIEUX-P ... 3f4e700372" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

How can a seller take a whopping 699$ for a jersey and not even know when its from?

Why would anyone pay $700 for a non-team issues, unsigned unused jersey from the 90s?

If any one is interested I have home and away crosby jerseys for sale in the koho/CCM brand which is now reebok.
both are XL in size mint condition.
best offer on either of these...also these were purchased when he first came into the league so no a or c on it.

I also have a crosby rimouski oceanic jersey in white which is RARE as on ebay you'll only find blue.
