Guess we don't get a compensatory draft pick, do we? since we were still paying him.

"One of Shero's first tasks will be finding a new head coach for the team, which was co-coached by Scott Stevens and Adam Oates during the second half of 2014-15."

NJ seems to have alot better scouting department than the Pens. Especially in Europe. That's somewhat scary when you add it to GMRS's strengths of trading and signing UFAs.

Why won't the Pens ask for a draft pick, God knows they need them.

Joking aside... are there guys that he really liked still on our roster? I get the sense those guys may have been the first to go.... Could he want Kunitz or Scuds?tfrizz wrote:Adams to Devils e5

Re: Devils hire Shero as GM
Here's what I don't understand about Shero:
The bad contracts he gave with the Penguins started happening in 2013. He wasn't always so reckless. He used to fight for every cent. Remember when he wouldn't give Bill Guerin a second year on a new deal? His signings in the first half of his Pittsburgh tenure were basically good.
Then all of a sudden he seemed to lose his mind. We had the Kunitz, Dupuis and Adams extensions and the Scuderi signing. We had the Letang extension, which I still think was foolish. And we had the undeserved extension for Bylsma. I know that had no implications for the team's payroll, but I'm also certain that was the move that enraged ownership most of all. All that happened in the span of a couple of months.
Bad drafts and failure to identify young forwards was a constant problem with Shero, but bad contracts to veterans was not. So what caused him to stop caring?
