Or maybe it was just enough of an opening for the Kings to get off a bad contract?Lt. Dish wrote:That's not enough to terminate a contract, is it? There has to be something else with this.seabiscuit wrote:Mike Richards

According to some talking heads, we were all supposed to be shocked ("SHOCKED!" they said). Frankly, I'm not shocked. But, then again, not all the details are out yet.jwest21 wrote:Or maybe it was just enough of an opening for the Kings to get off a bad contract?Lt. Perhaps it's a sad statement that I don't find something like this shocking.

There has to be more to this... if not, Richards and NHLPA will not only get the full value of the contract but he'll probably sue the Kings for damages.

Mike Richards is going to sue the pants off of LA if that is the only thing that breached his contract.

Yeah none of this is shocking at all, this is about the mildest thing that an athlete could possibly be in trouble with the law for. DUI, domestic violence, Rothlesburging, and hard drug use are all worse than this by far.Lt. Dish wrote:According to some talking heads, we were all supposed to be shocked ("SHOCKED!" they said). Agreed on the athlete/painkiller/not surprising. However, with the border involved, I'm wondering if it's not something in the realm of trafficking, which is a whole different ball game.

Kinda surprised Marty is retiring. Would not be surprised to see him surface in the NHL next season.Malkintent wrote:

Via the Boston Globe: "The Bruins traded a 2017 third-rounder to Philadelphia for Zac Rinaldo, the fourth-liner with 8 career goals and 14 career games on suspension. Rinaldo skates very well despite the Department of Player Safety-issued ankle bracelet he’s required to wear."

Of late he's very right about Crosby, ha! Just because he sucks doesn't make his comment any less true.Jim wrote:More Semin issues...

Re: Canaan's thread of NPR chaos.
Just kind of an overall rant, as I watch some NHL Network highlights from the Yotes/Wings game. Feel free to ignore this...
I'm not sure I can think of a dumber new rule in the history of a sport than the 'goal being called off for an offsides play' Coaches challenge. How do you explain that to a 7 year old at their first hockey game, that the goal that just clearly went into the net, is not a goal b/c of a play that happened 30 feet away from the play? It's confusing to casual fans too I'm sure. Takes the joy out of a goal even if it's called legit in the end. Just wait til one of these things happens in a game of significant importance, like in overtime of a playoff game. Clueless NHL. Just dumb. OK I'm done now.

It's unfortunate that a kid had to endure this BS, but the article by Patty O is a great read...

Think the offensively challenged Anaheim Ducks would like a redo on the Kyle Palmieri trade?

Prime example of a player topping out at one team and then moving to another and finding a different game. Palmieri would probably be a 15g 35 point guy in Anaheim again this year.ville5 wrote:Think the offensively challenged Anaheim Ducks would like a redo on the Kyle Palmieri trade?

From the Winnipeg Free Press:
Here's the important part:
League and player sources have confirmed that Jets captain Andrew Ladd has asked for a six-year deal worth at least $41 million, that defenceman Dustin Byfuglien has requested $55 million over eight years and that defenceman Jacob Trouba wants more than $56 million over the maximum eight years allowed in the league’s CBA with its players

Some french people are upset that Montreal reporters pronounce Subban's initials with American vernacular. Even though it's correct. You can't make this stuff up. P.K. having a laugh over it.

Re: Canaan's thread of NPR chaos.
I couldn't watch the game but listened on the radio feed, but the Swiss team was really outworking the Canadians in their showdown today. Game went into a shootout where the Canadians pulled it out. Canada better shape up if they want a shot at a medal this year.
Up next for the US is the Swiss team tomorrow. US should be rested and looking for a regulation win. Their chances should be improved after the amount of energy the Swiss just put into the Canada game.
