That would be a very difficult stat to look up. As with all offensive stats, the place to start looking is Gretzky. As it turns out, Gretzky had 85 career points against Edmonton after leaving. Then you have to include his seasons against LA after he left as well as his points against St. Louis after he played 18 games there during the 95-96 season. After leaving LA, he racked up a mere 9 points against the Kings. After leaving St. Louis he potted an additional 5 points against the Blues. That leaves an incredibly numerically unlikely coincidence - the Great one had exactly 99 points against former teams during his career.Big Easy Pens Fan wrote:...at least that I know of, but Jagr has to have the most points scored against his former team(s). As for Jagr - the short answer is to date he has 113 points against former teams (46 against Pens and 67 against others), and counting. I will provide a break-down below. This number figures to continue to rise. I have no idea right now if there are any other very likely players to have large point totals against former teams, but I love number games like this. Maybe I'll take a look some day and see if I can think of anyone else.
Without further adieu, Jagr stats against former teams:
Pit - 46 points after leaving
Wash - 26 points after leaving
NYR - 10 points after leaving
Dal - 6 points after leaving
Bos - 8 points after leaving
NJD - 5 points after leaving
Any other ideas on players who racked up large point totals against former teams (I'm betting Mark Recchi is up pretty high on this list too)?
Yes, he must.Humperdink wrote:He must be in incredible shape physically.
Oops. I left the Flyers points out of the post (even though the points were included in my notes/calculations). I edited the post.Big Easy Pens Fan wrote:SubtropicalPenguin wrote:That would be a very difficult stat to look up. As with all offensive stats, the place to start looking is Gretzky. Phil Esposito is a possibility, as he started his career with a few seasons in Chicago before going on to Boston and the Rangers.SubtropicalPenguin wrote:Any other ideas on players who racked up large point totals against former teams (I'm betting Mark Recchi is up pretty high on this list too)?

ooh... that's good, too! Sooo, I edited the title again.Great58 wrote:I'm going to nominate Doug Gilmour.
65 points against his original club St. Louis
35 points against Calgary after leaving 1991
10 points against the Leafs after his first stint there ending 91/92
5 points against NJD after 96/97 season
3 points against Chicago after 98/99 season
3 against Buffalo after 2000-2001 season
So that's 121 points against teams he previously wore the sweater for.
For his career, he had 283 points against teams he played for, but 121 is points after leaving (he had 28 points against the Cannadiians but none after playing there, 30 points against Bullafo prior to playing there but only 3 after, 54 against Chicago but only 3 after leaving there, 31 against the Devils but only 5 after playing there, 35 against the Leafs in his career but only 10 after his first stint in Toronto....) All his points against the Blues were after leaving, as were 35 of 37 career points against Calagary.

He played for fewer teams, but there were fewer teams in the league then so he played former teams more often.
Any points he had against Chicago, plus any he had against Boston for the NYR, would count. I doubt he can top that 113, though.
