Scuderi sent down

Post by Humperdink »

... to his rightful place.

Of course, it is the Blackhawks we are talking about. And they save $950K in cap space.

If the pens are keeping salary shouldn't the pens get a rated portion of the cap savings too?

No. We didn't send him down. They only save because you can bury up to 950k in the minors.

Correct. The Pens are stuck with the salary they retained whether he's in the NHL or AHL.

Which, again, makes me question the trade. Not because I think Daley's been bad or anything, but because I think they could've gone about it cheaper by demoting Scuderi and using Pouliot. We'd be looking at something like

Maatta - Letang
Dumoulin - Cole
Pouliot - Lovejoy
*Warsofsky

for a total (non-prorated, for simplicity) cap cost of $14,532,500. Instead, we've got

Maatta - Letang
Dumoulin - Daley
Pouliot - Lovejoy
Cole
*Warsofsky

for a total (non-prorated) cap cost of $18,032,500. Obviously, Daley is a better player than Cole - but I'm not sure the drop off would be huge given the style Sullivan has the team playing. IMO the biggest issue for Cole was that Johnston & Agnew were trying to use him as a defensive defenseman when he isn't one... he's an offensive defensemen.

A few things about pending CHI-LA trade: it may not become official until later in the day; players involved are Scuderi/Ehrhoff...

Hawks eat half of Scuderis deal too. Now the Kings get him for a good $1 million cap hit. Hawks lose Daley now essentially for Ehrhoff and then nothing next year.

Why a horrible trade that ended up being for them :)

Scuderi plays 19 minutes and picks up an assist in his re-debut with LA. He obviously belongs there!

Yep, article on the game you referenced. LA has a new hero.

I can see it now: Kings v Pens in the SCF and in game 7 OT Scuds scores the Cup winner. write it down!
