Hunwick is out too, looks like he skated a lot yesterday so hope he’s ready next game.

No official reports yet, but sounding like Murray is going to be out a few weeks. Have heard 4-6 weeks tossed around. Seth Rorabaugh says Murray was placed on IR.

Anyone have a clue as to when this happened, or what part of his upper body is injured? I didn't notice any contact that appeared would likely result in injury.FLPensFan wrote:Rowney out with an upper body injury, minimum of 4 weeks.

Sheary is now listed as week-to-week.
Rowney progressing and was in non-contact jersey today.
Ruhwedel and Hunwick are now officially healthy.
All this per Sully.

For tonight that allows Reaves to rejoin, given our opponent. But will we see Sprong return in NJ?KG wrote:Wonderful. Just when we were clicking with 4 lines.

Will the Caps call up another sacrificial lamb to try to keep Reaves away from a rather quiet Wilson like they did last time?

Reaves will re-enter the line up and Rust gets a bump to the third line.

Me, I'd flip Guentzel and Rust around, but that'd break up Kessel's line (again). So there's some logic at least.longtimefan wrote:Actually, Rust moves to the first line.Puck-Lurker wrote:Not a chance.Great58 wrote:For tonight that allows Reaves to rejoin, given our opponent. This. Very frustrating. The Pens were really starting to hit their stride and put some points in their pocket. Hopefully this doesn't derail them too badly. I know Sheary is not the most important piece of the puzzle, but when he's playing with speed and aggression, he is a very good complementary piece to the Crosby line. Ah well... next man up!KG wrote:Wonderful. Just when we were clicking with 4 lines.

Re: Penguins 2017-2018 Injury Thread
That's part of Rust's value. He can play up and down the lines. It seems they want to pair Guentzel with Kessel. It could be, although the stats don't bear it out right now, that they like Guentzel's hockey IQ and playmaking ability because he adds some of the elements Sheahan is lacking.Puck-Lurker wrote:Me, I'd flip Guentzel and Rust around, but that'd break up Kessel's line (again). Matt Murray is not a long term solution at goal. He is the most brittle goaltender I've ever seen.

We're talking about a head injury, at a time in the world where teams are being more cautious with head injuries, on the team that nearly endured losing it's captain and franchise player to a career-ending head injury.Antonio wrote:Matt Murray is not a long term solution at goal. I'm not saying you are entirely wrong, because he does seem to be building a history of injuries, but is this really the straw that broke your back?
Looking at his injury history (https://www.foxsports.com/nhl/matthew-m ... r-injuries) he seems to have more recently, but two total are now head injuries. One being two playoff runs ago where he got his head run in the game against Philly. He then got a broken hand during the World Cup. Since then it was 3 straight LBI, with the last being in Nov when in yet another game against Philly he was ran by Voracek, and then an UBI in December that I don't recall exactly the cause of.
It seems to me there were a few fluky injuries (broken hand, ran by Voracek) mixed in with two head in juries that kind of make this history of his seem worse than it really is.
I think he's just a bit unlucky perhaps?
