Dubas press conference 3-8-2024
Gotta plane to catch. This'll be quick.
Thanks players who were traded.
Have to do what we feel is best.
Question time:
"Do you anticipate being more active?" - What's expected value today vs future.
"Expect roster transfprmation in summer?" - We have more work to do. [Bunting] will help us. Happy to add him. $12M in cap space this summer. Salary cap will be going up. More assets now.
"Will this help a quick overhaul?" - Players aren't happy with me (re Jake). I have to do what's best for the team. Bunting will help us right away. Increasing draft capital. Ponomarev on the cusp of making team. Koivunen was highly touted in Toronto. Having a great year. Loaned over there, will probably play for Finland and then head to WBS. Cruz Lucius getting better and better in a tough conference. Expects he'll return to Wisconsin.
"Any pending trades?" - No.
"Why those players from Carolina?" - Guys we had highly rated from our scouts. Up to us to develop them.
"What were conversations with Sullivan like the last few days?" - Over summer coaches sit in on conversations. Not the case during the season. Spoke with Sully at nights and the morning. No one's happy.
"Ever get close to a trade-and-sign with Jake?" - Wasn't a necessity to get deal done. Team made attempt prior to season to sign Jake. Jake deserves all he gets. Once it became apparent we weren't in [playoff] mix, decision was made to move Jake.
"Jake's injury impact trade?" - Didn't come up at all. No.
That's all folks.

Also said we have $12million in cap space as of now to work with over the summer.
He doesn't look overly happy to be in this situation.

Said the Carolina package was "by far" the best they received. They're very high on Koivunen, ranked him as one of Carolina's top prospects.
Expects Ponamarev to start in WBS, get acclimated and be up shortly and be on the team next season.

Re: Dubas press conference 3-8-2024
So Sully and the coaches sat in on meetings over the summer about strategy and players being discussed. So you'd have to assume that they had some input on which players to bring in...

He should find the guy that signed Ryan Graves and rip him a new one.KG wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 3:10 pm
