Konstantin Koltsov - RIP
It’s being reported that Konstantin Koltsov has passed away at the age of 42. I remember how fast he was, and if I recall correctly he wore 71. One of the more fun X generation players to watch. Prayers to the family.

Very sad to hear this. He was always one of my favorite X-gen players... he could absolutely fly... but he had no idea how to make the puck go in the net.

Found a box in my garage of old Penguins Report and Sporting News magazines. KK was rated as a B- prospect: If only his hands could match his skating speed, he could become a full-time NHL player.
Condolences to his family.

Peace to his family and friends. I watch tennis and Aryna Sabalenka was his girlfriend. If commenters mentioned, I didn't hear. If he was at matches, did not recognize.

Re: Konstantin Koltsov - RIP
I always rooted for him, loved watching him skate he always worked hard and man was he fast. I remember him being good on the PK - just needed to generate more offense, as others noted.
I'd love to see a ranking of the Pens all time fastest skaters, he'd be on it. RIP.

I really hate hearing of anyone taking their own life. Life is such a precious gift, and to think anyone would ever be that down in life to just want to end it is heartbreaking. I really wish for anyone going through problems that they reach out and seek help.

Mental health is a crisis in this country. I believe it is in Europe also.ejd43 wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2024 2:04 pmI really hate hearing of anyone taking their own life. Also, I find it odd that his girlfriend is still going to play in that tennis tournament in Florida.

I don't want to speculate, but I'll just say there is a very large Russian community in Miami. As we know, Geno spends a lot of his time here, Tarasenko lives here, we've seen Kovalchuk here...and that's just in terms of hockey players. There's a larger community of the "general public" here too.Badger Bob wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2024 2:58 pmMental health is a crisis in this country. It's still pretty fresh, but it wouldn't surprise me to hear of more suspicious circumstances arising a few weeks into the investigation.

Simon's death was also ruled suicide. His family is saying CTE, but I don't believe there has been a postmortem yet to confirm it.
Sad week for hockey. I hope they can find some answers.

Have to wonder if the league will every seriously look to take fighting out of the game. It's not as vicious as it was back in the day but still. It is a little silly in this day in age to allow it to happen. Guess the same can be said for MMA fighting. We'll see how those guys will look as they age.Sigwolf wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:39 amSimon's death was also ruled suicide. Mental heath issues are anywhere people live. Depending on the place you live there may be more or less support mechanisms in place to help you deal with it.Badger Bob wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2024 2:58 pmMental health is a crisis in this country. In my country, I wouldn't say there's a mental health crisis, ranked 6th on the happiness index (it's that one that's not in Scandinavia, but nearby)
