This game is what a playoff game would look like. Compete well but make a few mistakes and lose by a goal or two. Probably a 4 game sweep.

That's what I was thinking. This was a playoff type game, and you could tell the guys who were up for that and those who weren't.

He wound up and took a slapshot on Jarry with a few seconds left, from the slot, slightly above the faceoff dots. Full disclosure, it was not a full rip, it was kind of a half-slapper, ease up play.

Nowhere close to the type of performance in all areas to get a Win tonight.Lacked the focus and attention to detail.
Ned with a bad game.He was great for so many games.Jarry entered and played like a dog.He stunk it up.
The Top 4 Defense were terrible.Pettersson,Karlsson and Letang were big reasons this ended up with that result.All 3 cost them.
Reilly Smith was right at the top of why they lost as well.Weak effort everywhere,,missed chances,soft coverage.No excuse.Not a guy to keep going forward.
DOC was the best player all night for the Pens.Bunting and Sid were real good but not much from any one else up front.

With a chance to put themselves in a good spot to get into the Playoffs we once again see a Mike Sullivan Coached Team offer very little in a terrible loss.The 80 Game 31st Ranked Incompetent PP Failure cost them.SHG allowed.Continued ineffective and easy to defend set up.Never addressed by the Coaching Staff.

The lack of ability to Defend at all was a disaster.11 Goals Allowed(1 ENGA) in 2 Games with the Season in the balance says it all.The top 3 Defensemen went out there and played that poorly with their decision making and lack of awareness.1 game after the Top 2 guys nearly cost them.Same mistakes over and over with the entire unit.Inability to find a way to keep it from happening.

Then we see the guy they went into this Season as the #1 Goalie go in and play poorly beyond description after they pulled Ned,which had to happen,the right move there.Jarry should not see another minute in net as Pittsburgh Penguin Goaltender.At no point did he look like he would keep them in this.

Once again,as has been evident for 7 consecutive seasons we see a Mike Sullivan Coached Team unable to get in done with the pressure on.
The 10 Game stretch that the Pens have put together to get a chance to be in the Playoffs has been a strong mix of effort,solid defensive play and excellent Goaltending.All of that was nowhere to be found in a game where it was needed most.They had 70 Games before this strong run to not be in this position but could not overcome it.Not a fun night as a Penguin Fan.

Hell in November they had a 14% chance. Now if it's 12, it's still just the continuation of the math from all season long. The complete aberration that was the last 10 games only gave a false perception that the entire season was actually the aberration. Honestly, they already pissed away the draft position but the last 10 games with Sid DOMINATING have been the most entertaining this team has been all year, plus they created a small bit of excitement at the chance of making the playoffs for many, even though we already knew mathematically they were all but out 5 months ago. Maybe they'll still make it, but probably not. Who cares though at this point. I mean, I think we all made our peace with how bad they've been and that they weren't going to make it months ago, so everything now is bonus time based on a shocking 10 game run. Hell, let's just enjoy it if they produce a win or two still because there is no other outcome really anymore and no one should be still grieving the playoffs if they miss, because if they do, the playoffs were missed a long long time ago.
