Re: Associate Coach Todd Reirden let go
Former Pens assistant Yeo and Vancouver mutually part ways. Did he handle the PP when he was here?

Re: Associate Coach Todd Reirden let go
Yeo was responsible for the PP, and it was very streaky. Just looking at some articles, looks like people were trying to run him out of town when the PP had a 2-3 year slump.

Ha! good find. There are some doozies in there. Looks like it should be a hard pass on a Yeo reunion

Re: Associate Coach Todd Reirden let go
Are we really asking if we want Yeo back to coach the PP?
I sure hope not. It was bad with him, too.

The refrain used to be "Fire Yeo", guess now we can "Rehire Yeo"?
(no, not really)

I was never terribly impressed with his work. If he was up for an AHL head coaching position, I'd maybe listen, but right now, given where our team is right now, I would pass.KBone wrote: Wed May 29, 2024 6:41 pmAre we really asking if we want Yeo back to coach the PP?

Saw a tweet yesterday that Ottawa may already be talking to Yeo for an assistant job.dark_forces wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 6:21 pmI was never terribly impressed with his work. Re: Associate Coach Todd Reirden let go
Yeo officially hired as assistant in Ottawa. Take him off the list
Real curious to see what direction Dubas goes with the Reirden replacement. Does he bring in a former head coach to put a little pressure on Sully? Or does he bring in someone Sully is comfortable with.

Re: Associate Coach Todd Reirden let go
As a lifetime fan of the Penguins, and for the good of future success for the team, I would hope Dubas makes the proper decision either way. I would like to see an assistant coach fully capable to take over the roster if an opportunity arises. Head coach is incapacitated for whatever reason (we made a decision that sully has other ambitious goals other than leading this team, and we wish him well in those goals) and the bench needs a functional coach, who understands how a Powerplay needs to operate successfully, a capable coach is needed.KG wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 4:43 pmYeo officially hired as assistant in Ottawa. Pay the assistant coach a great salary, so when the need arises (hopefully quickly before the next season slips away -- like last two), there is a talented coach to assume the Headcoach duties.

Toronto brought in former Isles head coach Lane Lambert as their associate coach. Wonder if Dubas will bring in a younger former head coach to help the PP. Maybe someone like Woodcroft?

Not surprising at all. He's also not a threat to take the job from Sullivan I wouldn't think. Hopefully Quinn can get the best out of EK and fix this PP. Quinn and Sullivan are besties. I just hope that Quinn isn't another yes man to Sullivan and comes in with fresh ideas etc.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he is a potential successor should they decide to move on from sullivan. He’s known for coaching well with younger players and we’re moving in that direction.KG wrote: Tue Jun 11, 2024 9:00 amNot surprising at all. Another Boston guy for FSG! Really have to wonder how much control our President of Hockey Operations really has over the coaching staff.dark_forces wrote: Tue Jun 11, 2024 10:55 amI wouldn’t be surprised if he is a potential successor should they decide to move on from sullivan. If this move brings back more of the '22-'23 version of Karlsson, thereby igniting the PP, I'm onboard.KG wrote: Tue Jun 11, 2024 11:06 amAnother Boston guy for FSG! Still nothing official on David Quinn that I've seen. Here's the first real piece of potential information I have come across on WBS coach. Androckitis is a very reliable source for all things AHL related. Grant Potulny is/was a college hockey coach for Northern Michigan University. I believe the team just announced he was leaving for another opportunity.

Re: Associate Coach Todd Reirden let go
Both Fox and Karlsson won the Norris with Quinn as their HC. That's a positive.
It doesn't specify if he is going to be in charge of the PP, just says defenseman. Curious if we would consider bringing in a PP specialist. Could be something progressive for KD to consider.

I would argue that they should stop coaching the PP and just let Sid, Malkin and EK do whatever they want and not overthink.KG wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2024 11:25 amBoth Fox and Karlsson won the Norris with Quinn as their HC. That's a positive.

Something tells me that is a major part of the problem. Those 3 are pass, pass, pass.DelPen wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2024 4:50 pmI would argue that they should stop coaching the PP and just let Sid, Malkin and EK do whatever they want and not overthink.KG wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2024 11:25 amBoth Fox and Karlsson won the Norris with Quinn as their HC.
