He sounds like intensity wise, he is the Hornqvist replacement. Maybe Chad gave him his blessing. LOL![]()
In seriousness, this kid really comes across as self-assured. Borderline arrogant, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

By that video - he seems to like the #2. He also wore it in college.FLPensFan wrote: Thu Aug 29, 2024 11:10 amHe sounds like intensity wise, he is the Hornqvist replacement. Looks like he might be a lot of fun at Flyer games.

Probably right but still I’d pony up 3 bones for the chance at a BennyPuck-Lurker wrote: Sun Aug 25, 2024 11:08 amHyperbole is the best thing ever. - DOC 75%
- Bunting 10%
- Rakell 5%
- Beauvillier 4%
- McGroarty 3%
- Other 3%
There are some very good reasons to keep DOC on 1LW to start the season, but it's entirely possible someone else gets a shot there due to injury or other lineup choices.

I wouldn't part with 30 to potentially get 1000.Maestro wrote: Sat Aug 31, 2024 7:25 pmProbably right but still I’d pony up 3 bones for the chance at a BennyPuck-Lurker wrote: Sun Aug 25, 2024 11:08 amHyperbole is the best thing ever. Hmm 30 for chance at a grand? Sign me up. I think they gave up their top center prospect for a winger prospect for a reason and it’s not to put him in the bottom 6 or to enjoy some perogies and a Strohs.

Apparently McGroarty can play RW, or has at least said so.
DOC-Crosby-Rust
Bunting-Malkin-McGroarty
Glass-Eller-Rakell
Lizotte-Hayes-Puljujärvi
xBeauvillier-Acciari
Swap Rust and McGroarty if need be.
That looks like a team that could be fun to watch to me.
Also, fire Sullivan
Unless we can't resign Sid without Sullivan. Also if Sid wants 14.87Mx3 sign the damn contract.

Though he's younger than many of the forward group, I find it difficult to believe Puustinen won't make the team out of camp. Of course, he could be dealt—that's realistic, as I could see McGroarty taking his RW spot. I would flip Rakell and McGroarty in your proposed lineup.Puck-Lurker wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2024 12:48 pmApparently McGroarty can play RW, or has at least said so.

With all the forwards we have, where they slot in is an interesting dynamic. I don't like Bunting and McGroarty with Malkin, because there's no pure shooter on that line. McGroarty reportedly has a great shot, but he often has a pass first mentality. Bunting is a hard nosed, go to the net type of guy. Malkin could probably benefit most from Puustinen on his line...but I don't see it happening.dark_forces wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2024 1:59 pmThough he's younger than many of the forward group, I find it difficult to believe Puustinen won't make the team out of camp. I still have Poulin, Puustinen, Nieto, and Acciari as my longest shots to make the roster. Was surprised Taylor Haase said something similar on Nieto, saying she just doesn't see a place for him on this team, and after playing very little last year, he likely has zero trade value. Hopefully, the team does the smart thing and waives him to the AHL or let's him get claimed. I still think Acciari could be on the block and shipped out.
We just don't know, however, how the team is viewing things. Maybe they have Glass, Beauvillier, and Lizotte in kind of the same category....with room for only one of theses low-risk, high reward type of guys. Same thing, there might only be 1 or 2 spots out of Poulin, Puustinen, Puljujarvi.

I've noticed that Puustinen tends to pass that puck a little too often as well. He's got a good shot that's worth unloading, but doesn't seem to do so that often. Even when on the top lines, he would look threatening on a top line, but it never went anywhere.FLPensFan wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2024 2:19 pmWith all the forwards we have, where they slot in is an interesting dynamic. McGroarty is definitely in the same boat, he does have a good enough shot, but too much passing. Not much thought given to threatening a shot, but just instantly tapping it along too often. Got to make goaltenders and defencemen respect the shot too. I expect you could get through to them, given time.
We have three kinds of players fighting for the bottom six:
1.) <25 the young: Gruden, Poulin, McGroarty, Koivunen, Ponomarev
2.) >25 the middle: Glass, Lizotte, Beauvilier, Puljujärvi, Puustinen, Bemström
3.) >30 the old: Hayes, Eller, Acciari, Nieto
If two players can give you about the same on the ice, please, please, please, can the Penguins just play the younger player.

Was looking up when McGroarty was drafted and player comps. His college coach said he plays like Anders Lee. Young Anders Lee was a solid player. Net front presence, scores a lot of ugly playoff type of goals. I also read that McGroarty "plays like a Tkachuk"
One can hope.

I'll believe it when I see it. He's got to up his skating at any rate and shoot the damn puck. Wouldn't be bad if he stuck in the AHL for a few months.KG wrote: Wed Sep 04, 2024 12:16 pmWas looking up when McGroarty was drafted and player comps. His college coach said he plays like Anders Lee. Rutger will quickly change his opinion of Rempe when he tries to take Sid's off...
