Game 10 vs Canucks: Thoughts from the Morning After

Post by Admin »

  • Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in a mere 65 seconds.
  • Any reason they didn't take a timeout after the second Vancouver goal?
  • Why is Crosby still getting more ice time than Malkin?
  • Do they have any leftover Straka bubble wrap for Rust?

We have 10 people on the roster playing worse hockey the Ryan Graves this year - who shockingly has been okay on the 3rd pair.

The EK and Greslyk Pairings is awful yet they keep the the together all game. Turn over machines and can’t defend.

Crosby has been awful. Do t know what’s wrong or did he age 10 years this off season.

The PP has has struggled since Rust came back and was moved to that unit right away and looked 75 years old. Albeit this game was better.

Bunting not producing.

We are slow. We move the puck slow. We have no structure. We need a new coach and some speed and intensity in this line up and for Crosby to wake up.

Without watching them play, any idiot could know an ek gres pair is a terrible idea just by writing that down on paper and reading it.

Crosby could just have age catching up... happens to everyone. Or he could be sick of being on **** team with a (didn't used to be) **** organization. Or could be something else.

The coaching thing... well.

Give me a hammer.

They'll send several down on rehab assignments.

On postgame radio they talked a lot about EK missing the entire preseason and how that has likely translated into how terrible he has played the first few weeks. I’d be more willing to buy that excuse if he didn’t look horrible the entire last season too, but still probably has something to do with it. They discussed how especially at his age how difficult it can be to get in proper physical shape to start the season, so maybe now that HIS preseason is over he will finally start to play better??

I’m grasping at straws here.

The thing is, the last time Karlsson played with another highly talented offensive defenseman, it didn't work out to well, either. Burns and Karlsson didn't mix very well in SJ. I still think the Penguins would have been a lot better off either keeping Matheson, or trading for Jakob Chychrun. I think either of them would have given them more of what they needed than what Karlsson does. I'm finally starting to see little spurts of how Karlsson played offensively in SJ showing up in Pittsburgh this season...some rushes up ice, some drives to the slot, etc...but it isn't nearly enough to offset his terrible defense.
