Good job Lizotte.

I despise this old 4th line though. Puljujarvi should ask for a trade.
Lizotte leaves it out there every shift. He has a ton of Heart.
Yeah he does. When healthy, he deserves a sweater every game.

Unfortunate for Pickering being sick and unable to go.
Puljujarvi should be screaming to get away from this Organization.Hasn't done a thing to warrant being scratched.Poulin and Puustinen need to be asking to get out as well.
The Bottom 6 outside of DOC gives them zero chance of anything that can force the Opposition to even waste a Second on Defending.
If Poulin and Puustinen want out then they need to go on a crazy tear in WBS to have trade value. They haven’t really done that and in fact no one has for a really long time it seems. I haven’t been impressed with the coaching down there either for the last several seasons.
Yes,their lack of Offensive Production doesn't give them any leverage. The WBS Coaching is definitely a concern for the development of McGroarty,Broz,Ponomorev and Kouivenen.
Have you watched them play?
Not every night but about 5-7 Games this Year.Broz has had a good run scoring.Kouivenen can skate and is a decent passer.Ponomorev is good at reading the play and McGroarty is struggling with his confidence so far.Small Sample Size but thats how I've seen it.
Way too early to say anything one way or another on MacDonald. You can question the lack of scoring, but they are the best defensive team in the AHL.

That’s awesome, I only get to look at the stats and the standings. It just seems to me that MacDonald is trying to play a defense first game and knowing the Penguins style and WBS is supposed to be mimicking it, I would expect the 2nd half to have better scoring.

From what you’ve seen, how accurate is that? Are they more disciplined defensively which might add to the lower scoring?

Regarding McGroarty, I did see an article where MacDonald admitted that he threw McGroarty into the deep end to sink or swim (can’t remember the exact quote). That might be why he’s lacking in confidence, but hopefully that’ll change by the playoffs.

Relax. You can't have a 3rd period meltdown in the first period. Although, if it were possible, this team would find a way.

Playing a goalie who is actually worse than Jarry will cure a lot of ills.

For one game.

We might have to hope for no 3rd period meltdown. 6-1 final, Jarry to Vancouver for a 2nd, Vancouver heads to the airport.

Sounds like Penguin win, Penguin salary cap win, Jarry heads back to western Canada to a playoff contender. Win-Win-WIn. :fist:

Nucks playing last night should mean it gets harder for them going forward, anyone want to bet the game is tied at some point before the end of regulation?

Thats a Good Assesment of what is likely Affecting these Players. It looks like MacDonald has them trying be more of a counter attack team and not being too aggressive Offensively.I think that likely limits what we can see from Kouivenen and Ponomorev.Broz looks like his Offensive Skills get him into good spots to get opportunities.McGroarty has definitely been fighting it but once he starts finding the net I agree with You,he will be better as their Season progresses.

Between the Penguins age and Canucks playing last night, the 3rd period might be the equivalent of a 3 OT playoff game with both teams dragging it.

I have no issues with the counter attack approach, at least since none of them really project to be a top line franchise player. Get them into those good habits and see what happens, but worse case we have a bunch of 2nd/3rd/4th line possibilities that also play good defense.

If they start to get more aggressive later, they’ll still have a better defensive mindset than the NHL squad.

It’s nice we are actually the better team on the ice but it helps a lot that the Nucks goalie is not good.

He’s been horrible. Good to not have the worse goaltending for one game.
