Bizarre to pull the goalie down by 2 with less than 30 seconds left.

I thought it was weird Berube didn’t pull the goalie at the start of the PP. only 2 minutes left , faceoff in Pens zone etc.

3rd Period Effort was decent enough to get this Win.Better Forecheck seemed to tire the Leafs out.
Jarry had a solid game in net.Was focused late and made key stops.
The Pickering-Letang D-Pair were good.Didnt give up any big chances.
Lizotte and Bunting were effective again,Puljujarvi fit right in on that Line without stopping their chemistry.
Pens Goals off Screens were the difference.Simple but gets it done.

After the terrible Loss to the Rags it was good to get this one.Seemed like there was a better overall Defensive Effort in the 3rd after some rough spots early.Looked like Sid was dialed in and could see he wanted this one.Felt like they were ready to not give this one up after Bunting put them up.

It’s almost like he’s not a good coach

New look PP played a huge role in this win. Getting 2 goals from it and almost as importantly, not giving up an shorties. Taking Crosby off that 1st unit has a huge added benefit being that after the PP is over he can get out there fresh and keep the opposition on their toes because he is always a danger they have to focus on. Big question is how long they will go with the new format.

Tough to be that upset over last night's loss even though it stung after the solid effort tonight against a quality Toronto team. Winning 5 out of last 6 makes it even more impressive. Long way to go still but they look like they care once again at least.

Grzelcyk's ability to fire the puck consistently and with power from the point is something this team sorely needs and has lacked for a number of years now, so I can see why he continues to get a regular shift, even though his defensive skillset is way below average.

Jarry made the big saves and held the fort at the end thankfully.

Isn't he a top 2-3 coach in the league? Along with Sullivan of course

Jarry hasn't been perfect, but he's been pretty solid his last few starts. He looks like an NHL goalie again at least. That's been a big help.

Yeah, I'd credit him for the Leafs game at the very least. He was pretty good.

I'll take the Ducks 4th rounder for 2027 and Jackson Lacombe

How are Toronto and Edmonton’s goalies?

Edmonton's goalies are on par with Jarry. Leafs goalies are maybe slightly better.

Edmonton's goalies are on par with Jarry. Leafs goalies are maybe slightly better.
I was surprised when I looked up the numbers for Toronto's goalies: Stolarz has a .924 save percentage, and Woll is at .919. I know that I wouldn't be comfortable with those guys keeping it up, if I were a Leafs fan and wanted a nice playoff run, but it's hard to make the case that goalie is a problem for them at present.

Average save percentage around the league is down considerably this year. Average may be something like .905.

49 goalies have played in 10 or more games. Of those 49 goalies:
--23 goalies have a SV% under .900
--only 14 goalies have a save percentage of .910 or higher

In the 21-22 season, around this same period of time in the season, there were 39 goalies who played 10 or more games:
--Only 4 of those goalies had SV% under .900
--23 of the 39 goalies had a save percentage of .910 or higher

Goalies are getting worse or shooters are getting better, or, more likely a combination of the two.

You mean all teams have defensemen pinching with no forwards covering while having a lead?!
