Going with the Graves-Gryz Pair continues to cost this team every night as well.
Having St.Ivany stuck down in WBS hurts them but Sullivan thinks he isn't as reliable as these 2.

Sullivan decided once again going with that 4th Line would offer some resistance and ability to Defend or Forecheck. They were on for 2 Goals against. His choices continue to affect this Team in a Negative way. After beating Toronto this Group was flat, disinterested and non competitive.Another Blowout Loss at Home to a Top Level Team.
Hayes, Beauvillier, and Acciari were the only 3 Penguins below 50% in Corsi, all in the 33-37% range.

Matt Nieto, 50%+ in Corsi 3 out of 9 games played.
Noel Acciari, 50%+ in Corsi in 12 out of 30 games played.
Kevin Hayes, 50%+ in Corsi in 9 out of 22 games played.

Jesse Puljujarvi, 50%+ Corsi in 13 of 21 games played.
Blake Lizotte, 50%+ Corsi in 8 of 14 games played.
Anthony Beauvillier, 50%+ Corsi in 15 of 30 games played.
Cody Glass, 50%+ Corsi in 11 of 17 games played.

PLAY THE YOUNGER GUYS.
Clear Evidence of how Sully's choices have an adverse effect on his Team.
Excellent Breakdown. Our Eyes don't deceive us.

I'll also note that Puustinen's numbers are terrible. In his 10 games played, he was only a 50%+ Corsi player 2 times. Of course, if you shove him on the 4th line for most his his starts, what else would one expect playing alongside the old guys.

Not surprised those are the numbers for Puustinen. His game was a lot more noticeable in a positive light when he was up on the Top Lines and PP.The second he made a mistake he got buried by this Coach. He has weaknesses but IMHO he brought enough to be an Effective and useful Forward.

Did DOC got bumped to 3rd line in mid of game, at least per playing time and Glass up with Geno instead of DOC?

Beauvillier 6:52, Hayes 10:20, Acciari 10:27, next DOC 12:29 - meanwhile Glass played over 16min.

Can we just freaking brake 3rd D pair - Graves - Gryz already?! Next game probably Nieto back in, for Beau or Hayes LOL, while Jesse is doomed with moron coach Sully! Shea - St.Ivany should be 3rd pair on D, even tho St.Ivany struggled in two games before scratched..

it’s really frustrating that every year we try to roll with these journeyman types on the 4th line that end contributing very little over playing young guys with tenacity and energy.

Man, but how good are MacKinnon and Rantanen? They are a noticeable step above everyone else on the ice last night, except Makar. It was a pretty even game when COL's other three lines were on the ice, then it just felt inevitable when those two were on. Just a different level. Fun to watch.

Maybe we take a run at Rantanen if he hits UFA this summer. We will have decent cap space, and hopefully more if we off-loan some vets by the deadline. I hope KD will try to ramp up the re-tool next season, after accumulating future assets in this transition year. We'll see!

Hayes has become Sully’s new Carter. Doesn’t play well enough to earn a lot of even strength ice time but for some reason he gets a lot of power play time.
Before I gave up for the night, I was screaming about that. At least Carter had the pedigree to be on the PP, Hayes doesn't even have that.

I cannot stand to listen to Mike Sullivan anymore. Just can't stand his stupid decisions that clearly do not work but he is such a stubborn *** that he will not do anything differently.

This team/coach has killed my interest in watching hockey.

I am glad I missed it. There wouldn't have been enough blood pressure meds to bring mine down.

A microcosm of this team was when Acciari blocked a pass and had a clear shorthanded breakaway but was caught easily and stripped of the puck by Makar before he ever got into a shooting position. Chance squashed.

I don't think I have ever seen such a flaccid performance from an NHL team. Sad. :(

Galaxy brain level sh** to have Kevin Hayes and Matt Grzelcyzk on PP1 for 1:30 with 87 while Malkin and EK65 are just sipping water on the bench. Especially late in the game when you had the PP trailing by 2. I don't even have words anymore....

Your problem is you just aren'ta top 2 or 3 coach so you can't understand. He's playing 4D chess.

100%. This 2 equal PP units never works. The power play is only 2:00 at most. One unit will be 75% of the time most likely. You have to have your big guns on the top unit. They need a net front presence.

I would do:

PP1: Sid, Geno, Bunting, Rakell, Karlsson
PP2: Rust, Tomasino, Puljujarvi, Letang, Gryz (if he must play).
