Both roloson and fernandez are being shopped by the wild.
We have a problem with inconsistent goaltending.
Top picks this time nothing special, 2 from minnesota i think
Team needs to start improving now, can come in now and be ready for next fall.
Time to move the top pick-makes total sense
maybe theyll go for it?

If we got the 1st pick, and the Wild offered Gaborik (very unlikely), i'd probably take it.

Otherwise, no.

You're saying give up our 1st rounder for a backup goalie? No way. Backups are a dime a dozen in free agency.

Besides, there's this small issue of Thibault being under contract for 2 more seasons!

I seriously wonder what Patrick was thinking in regards to Thibault. He should have given him a 1 year contract to see how it worked out first. Everyone had to know how close Fleury was to taking over the show.

My best memory of Hedberg was when during the playoffs someone changed an exit sign for Heidleberg to read Hedberg.

I really liked the Moose and it would have been nice for him to be the backup this year.

People laughed at me whenever I brought up Hedberg for a goalie for this season. He has proven to be a pretty reliable backup for Dallas, at least. Good numbers, for the most part:

I'm pretty sure no one laughed at you about Hedberg. Before Thibault, I also wanted to sign him and have him and Fleury split the time. Nothing you have said is earth shattering.

The moose was great and he would have been a good fit, but his numbers in Dallas would dwarf what he'd have done here. No way he puts up anything close behind this team.

Not to mention he would have been more than happy to come here.
Ahh... I miss those old days of the Pens bandwagon. The Heidelberg sign... the "Let's Go Pens" mowed into the grass of South Park.

My best Hedberg memory is the Caps game where someone started something with Mario and he came out of the net after the game to fight the guy.

And trading a #1 pick for a goalie that will be UFA when you already have a potential franchise goalie in net makes ZERO sense.

It makes sense if you sign him. Fleury cannot make the big game saves right now, maybe he never will. Why not bring in an established goalie to team with him, like Thibault was SUPPOSED to do.

You've got to be kidding me! Can't make the big game saves? I can't believe that some of you are writing him off already.

Me too! Gaborik AND a decent defensemen for a top 3 pick sounds about right. Gaborik is the PERFECT winger for Crosby to work with. He is alittle soft but the speed and instant acceleration is horse tranquilizer INSANE. Not only that, he can carry the puck up ice with the quickness and work the point just as good as Eric Staal. His shot is Jagrish, and he is the most dangerous player in the world in the neutral zone.

 dude...Fernandez or Roloson would curl up into the fetal position and cry themselves right out of the NHL if they played for the Penguins. Fleury is already an ELITE goalie. Those who don't recognise it now will be in for a real shock 3 years from now when he is in the middle of his first Vezina trophy season.

Just come to one of the last home games and the 'Fan giveaways'. I think they're still giving out those foam Moose antlers, 5 years after the fact. :?

There is a big hillside that goes down between a couple roads in South Park along Brownsville Road. They always cut messages into the grass because you can read them from the roads above. Usually they are USA signs and such.

And, thank you for allowing me to hit post #50!!! You DA MAN!

Its the same way up here in North Park. You have to be careful for both the deer and the cops. They'll bust yo @$$ if you go 27 in a 25.

Both of those guys are going to be UFAs. Do you realize how bad the Pens would have to overpay to sign either? And to be a backup?

Not happening, bad idea. The young established defenseman idea is better, but I still would not want to move my #1 until I had a better idea of what I was giving up.

Of course they will go for it, the pick will be half the age and more than twice as good as either goalie. Why not just throw in Malkin?

Lets go another direction. Draft Erik Johnson in the first round and watch Thibault and Fleury look a heck of a lot better than Fernandez or Roloson with the current group of defensemen.
