Of all the trade rumors out there this week, the one move that would excite me the most would be Sullivan getting relieved of his duties.

Re: Official GDT: Pens @ Oilers 3/3/24
The Oil did little except the 2 odd man rush goals until they decided it was time to embarrass the Pens and did exactly that late.
2 chances the entire Period, one from Sid,one from Eller that struck iron.Don't count the Harkins break or PS,we know they weren't chances.
A ton of guys qutting, making business decisions or using the road trip as the excuse for this.
Ned with a rough sequence late, the short side goal was awful and he was down too early on the last one.
Might be one of the worst periods of hockey from this team the entire season.Non competitive.

Sullivan walks into the locker room after that 2nd period, looks around the room, pauses for a few seconds and asks very bluntly ...
"Who wants a drink?"

If Dubas makes a bunch of trades and brings in a bunch of younger skilled players, you absolutely can't have Sullivan as the coach. He will not develop them. They will be forced to be defensive plugs or will be traded and go on to produce elsewhere.
Really hope Dubas see's that a change is needed, and it's not just with the roster. Wholesale changes are needed.

Sid also had an outstanding injury free season last year, one ofthe best ever for a 35 Year old NHL Player.
Couldn't be more of a waste of what this man has given his team.

Poor Ned, he was the sacrificial lamb tonight.
Trade everyone you can besides 87
Call up Poulin, Andonovski, Sign Joshua and recall him, play Puljujarvi.
Tell Carter he’s going to be a healthy scratch the rest of the season, maybe his agent can find him another team by Friday afternoon.
Waive Harkins, Phillips

The Oil have played this Period like they were down 5-0.
Spectators rampant on the ice for this Team right now.

I don't know there there are enough moves possible to make difference to this team. They've quit, again.

Makes no sense to me why Sully doesn’t rotate who is the #1 PP with Geno and Sid centering two lines. So it’s not always Geno finally getting on the ice with 25 seconds left.

They keep talking about Harkins' injury like it's some monumental loss for the team. Yikes.

We will see if anything is done after this game. It's a day late and dollars short to make a coaching change. It should have been done in January.

I am not expecting Dubas to fire Sullivan this season. I really think he doesn't have the authority to do that from ownership. It may come to a head after the season between Dubas and FSG. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Re: Official GDT: Pens @ Oilers 3/3/24
One of the least competitive games from this franchise in a long time.
The lack of anything offensively from Smith and Rakell as top 6 Wingers is a killer.
Ned had a rough game in spite of the Oil not really doing much.
Zero physical play,intensity or effort.
The 2 terrible pinches from EK and POJ set this into motion but the lack of push back is all a reflection of the inability of Sully to connect with his team.
The damage from that loss to Calgary last night had its effect (thank You Kris Letang).A team that has a coaching staff whose system can't adapt with the current style of play in the NHL,made personnel moves that didn't work, is mentally weak while blowing leads in 3rd Periods,,has a PP that failed all season, simply doesn't get the veteran presence needed from 2 of the "core"-Malkin and Letang and looks like they know there are no answers from the Coaches.
Will be sad to see Guentzel traded, but there are other moves that should all be on the table this week(Smith,Eller,Ned). They won't cut Sully or the staff loose despite it being long overdue but Dubas has to wake up and see what has to happen with the roster while they can get a return for these players. The Season is Over.

This is the most frustrating part for me. It’s obvious to anyone who’s ever watched the sport of hockey that this team has given up on the coaching staff. In fact, I believe the team gave up on this coaching staff last year. What has this staff done to warrant keeping their jobs?maopens wrote: Sun Mar 03, 2024 11:09 pmI don't know there there are enough moves possible to make difference to this team. They've quit, again.
