Huge. With Sid getting 3 points I'll even take the win we don't want.

Ned deserves another start. He plays with a confidence unlike Jarry. Team feeds off the goalie.

Amazing we are getting some of these players on the lineup only because Harkins, Nieto and Acciari are on LTIR and Carter is hurt.

Re: Official GDT: Pens vs Canes 3/26/24
3rd Period Effort was good.Lot of hustle and energy.
Ned was the reason they got the Win.40 Saves against a tough team.
Puljujarvi with his best game, should get a Star.Had at least 7 Hits,Goal was all over the ice.Difference maker.
Sid with 3 Points.7 in the last 2 Games. With the Season ticking down he is ramping it up.
DOC,Puustinen,St.Ivany were good all night.Youth was a key to the way they played in the 3rd Period.
Was actually a good win against a Top Team in Carolina. We can all see what a difference having these Younger Players getting opportunities, using their abilities and gaining confidence can offer.Need to continue with that plan the last 11 games.

That's the worst part. That is literally the only reason, not because the person in charge is making smart decisions or wants to play these players for their ability, youth, effort etc.DelPen wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 9:50 pmAmazing we are getting some of these players on the lineup only because Harkins, Nieto and Acciari are on LTIR and Carter is hurt.

Geno only played 14 minutes. Eller played almost 17. Wonder what the end game is here with Geno. He doesn't seem like he has changed his game much to adapt as he gets older.

The 7 points in 2 is huge. Now he's got 5 spares. Hopefully he can keep it up. Going a ppg+ for 19/19 seasons would be a super impressive feat. 15g 7a 22p for 600 1000 1600.

Nice game. Nice win...but the Penguins are now sitting in 10th overall spot, 1 point behind Buffalo for 11th with a game in hand. #WorstPossibleOutcome

Which part? I think that's the most Jake has said to date on the matter. I still think it was the right decision by Dubas.

Rust said in the post game that the youthful energy was contagious throughout the lineup! Earth to Sully and KD.

That he isn't coming back. I agree it was the right move. It's funny, it always kills me when millionaires who play games for a living act like they couldn't possibly stay or play somewhere... like it was actually impossible. Please... if you really wanted to stay in Pittsburgh, you could have taken the 8 plus MILLION dollars and they would have signed you in a heartbeat. I totally understand the move and chasing the money but I detest the **** act that comes with some kind of notion like it was actually physically impossible to stay here or it was bringing poverty with it. Just be a man and say it... I wanted to chase the massive payday and they didn't offer it, so I left.

I also got the feeling, based on his agent's speak in January, that it was more Jake/agent decision to want to wait until the summer. Means Dubas couldn't afford to wait.Antonio wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 10:11 pmThat he isn't coming back. I agree it was the right move. I know we have all said it repeatedly. But it’s games like this that prove how awful line up and personnel decisions have been by our coaching staff. And why Riley Smith is still a Penguin is beyond me. Take a 4th or a 5th and call it a day. He’s off season value is plummeting. Play the youth the rest of the way.

That's the way it sounded to me too. Dubas did the right thing getting assets before the very real risk of losing him for nothing. As far as anyone really knows, he's still waiting until this summer. Now I highly doubt he decides on Pittsburgh anyway, but nobody knows much of anything beside he wasn't signing an extension before this summer..FLPensFan wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 10:29 pmI also got the feeling, based on his agent's speak in January, that it was more Jake/agent decision to want to wait until the summer. His intention was to stay through the end of this season. Then his intention was to go to the highest bidder. The right move was made.
If his true intention was to stay with this team after this season, he would have worked out an extension. There was no indication that management did not want him. It was clear he wanted to test free agency. You can't make that decision and then whine about wanting to stay after the fact.

Some additional info from Matt Vensel's article:Sigwolf wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 11:19 pmHis intention was to stay through the end of this season. Then his intention was to go to the highest bidder. The right move was made.
If his true intention was to stay with this team after this season, he would have worked out an extension. There was no indication that management did not want him. It was clear he wanted to test free agency. You can't make that decision and then whine about wanting to stay after the fact.
But then Guentzel went down with an injury and the Penguins entered into their freefall. He was clinging to hope that Kyle Dubas might make a serious bid to sign him to a contract extension. Then the team fell apart in Western Canada. Soon, Dubas signaled that Guentzel would likely be dealt before the deadline.
“My intention was to stay,” Guentzel said. “But they just thought there was a better direction to go, a different way. It’s out of my hands. It’s not my choice.”
AND THEN....
“It’s been unbelievable so far,” he said. “Guys are great. They welcomed me in pretty easily. It’s been a little bit of an adjustment, but it’s been good so far.”
Good enough that he nervously laughed off a question about whether he would consider re-signing in Pittsburgh this summer, when he reaches free agency.
“I don’t know. We’ll see how this year goes,” he said. “I really like it in Carolina.”
