Acciari puts it away.
Blomqvist was outstanding late.
The 3rd Period Effort by the Pens might have been their best all Year.Good Win.

Jarry's 14 days are up tomorrow. He lost tonight giving up 4 goals on 19 shots. Wonder what WonderKid will do.

It would be better for Blomqvist to play more in the AHL to work on high shots and keeping control of the puck when covering, those are big weaknesses right now. Also don’t want him getting shelled behind this garbage team defense and ruin his future.

As long as Sullivan is still here it’s better to have anyone with a future here as far away they can be from him.

The problem is, Blomqvist longer term in the AHL likely keeps Murashov stuck in Wheeling. Murashov played really well in his 1 AHL game, giving up 1 goal on 28 shots. In Wheeling, he's been average at best. 2-2, 3.05 GAA, .875 SV%. I don't think this is a "he can't handle the competition" issue. I've seen this in the past with goalies...the ECHL isn't up to the same level as the AHL, it is a noticeable step down for a goalie, and sometimes, that can effect their timing. The defense also usually isn't as solid. The Nailers aren't as good defensively overall. Both Murashov and Castor have sub-.900 SV% for Wheeling, while every goalie that has played in WBS has a .917 or higher SV%, and Ned's one game at 3.00 GAA is the highest GAA.

We also haven't had Gauthier return yet from injury, which makes things more crowded.

Blomqvist should be the priority, with Murashov 2nd, Larsson 3rd, and Gauthier 4th, IMO. But I don't know if keeping Blomqvist, Murashov and Larsson at the AHL level gets each of them enough starts. They've all been good. A good problem to have...but a problem nonetheless.

Is it wise to loan a goalie to another AHL team? Maybe Blomqvist/Murashov in WBS and Larsson loaned?

I asked this to Taylor Haase before the season started, and her response was no. Can it be done, yes. But then the parent club (the Penguins) have no control over playing time, instruction, etc. It's not worth it to lose control of the management and development of the player.

Guessing Malkin and Crosby will not be linemates again.
Better to be apart.. we dont have a legit 2nd line C, Eller is good, but not that good.

Eller is needed on 3C, so that Acciari plays wing on a 4th line.

Promote one of the bottom six wingers to play with Sid or Geno, providing they are not called Anthony or Beauvillier.

DOC - Crosby - Rakell
Bunting - Malkin - Rust
Puustinen - Eller - Puljujarvi
Hayes - Lizotte - Acciari

Looks fine...

Blomqvist should be the de-facto starter from here on out.

I could see those as being the lines, except, swap Beauvillier in for Puustinen. Everyone seems to think his penalty was awful and bad, and he's likely going to get benched. I didn't see it that way.

I have not seen a replay (because they don't usually put penalties in game recaps), but live...I really thought that was not a horrible penalty to take, more of a horrible call. I thought it was one of those dumb plays the NHL allows, where they casually allow the defender who is not playing the puck to skate into the offensive players line, slow down and impede him without using his arms or his stick. It's interference. All Puustinen was doing was hustling, trying to make a play, and get around the guy who was impeding him.
