Watching the Afterword it seemed:

Hunnam was awesome all around this episode. Just superbly done. Sutter's writing really shined as well. Just a perfect combination. That embrace with Jax and Nero at the end... man almost teared up.

I noticed that too and I think it was because of the emotion he portrayed. It was tough to hide it.

It really came out with him and Nero at the end, but I thought it kind of added a bit of realness to the scene.
