Isn't it funny how the wives/girlfriends are more embarrassed about the games than us guys are? We carry on regular - almost on a daily basis - video game discussions in the office. Every one has at least a computer and one console... many have 2 or 3 consoles.newarenanow wrote:My wife picked me up Lego Indiana Jones (the original one) for Wii at Target the other day for like $15. I do. I don't know why. Probably because games have become so complex, that it is nice to have a game that goes back to your childhood when games were simple and fun.slappybrown wrote:You Loooooooooooooooooooooove these lego games. They are hard enough that they make you think, but simplistic enough that you don't have to sit there for months trying to just get past the first board or have a cheat guide to figure out the most simple things.
Can't wait for Lego Harry Potter.

Re: Current video game being played
Got the 1.13 patch for Diablo 2... Unfortunately, I didn't realize till now that I could use it in single player and not just in the closed beta bnet channel so I will have to mess with it more tomorrow.
The thing I like the most in the notes is that they removed Iron maiden as a curse from the oblivion knights... that made them damn near impossible to kill sometimes if you had a melee character.
Unfortunately, I did not see "removed all the enemies that don't belong in Act 5 that we added in version 1.10 for some stupid reason".
Also something about "Respecialization"... it was available after I completed Den of Evil, but I didn't look into it... I'm guessing maybe you can redistribute your skill points or something?
Kinda neat if you think about it... it would allow you to beef up the early skills in the beginning, but then redistribute the points you "wasted" there later on to the more powerful ones.

Re: Current video game being played
Just got Zelda the Twighlight Princess and the new Super Mario Bros for Wii so far for Xmas.
I'm pretty pumped to play those. I still have to finish Lego Batman though. I'm at about 80%. Just going through and collecting all the canisters now.
I do have a question for beerman or whoever else has played Lego Batman. What the heck do I do on the Wayne Manor board, and is there any other bonus boards?

SMB for the wii is alot more fun multiplayer. it has that same little big planet novelty of knocking around the other players (hitting them with shells, knocking them off of cliffs, etc).newarenanow wrote:Just got Zelda the Twighlight Princess and the new Super Mario Bros for Wii so far for Xmas.

I beat it really quickly, and now im going through the "get all of the big coins" aspect of the game...its not bad...worth a rental, imo.

Re: Current video game being played
My mother in law bought it for me at the behest of my wife because it was a game she figured we'd have fun playing together on the Wii, so I'm looking forward to that. If there are other aspects too the game, then I'll be excited. To be honest, I really don't know much about it.canaan wrote:SMB for the wii is alot more fun multiplayer. it has that same little big planet novelty of knocking around the other players (hitting them with shells, knocking them off of cliffs, etc).newarenanow wrote:Just got Zelda the Twighlight Princess and the new Super Mario Bros for Wii so far for Xmas.

Re: Current video game being played
It is a mario1-style game with mario3 worlds (level 2 is the desert, for example) and mario3-type additions (penguin suits, inventory that you win at mushroom houses by matching cards, etc). all-in-all, i think its a decent new side scrolling mario games without anything that leaves you going "man, that was awesome" except for maybe the final fight of the game--which was pretty cool). I have yet to do any of the coin challenges (stuff of the main menu besides the regular game mode).newarenanow wrote:My mother in law bought it for me at the behest of my wife because it was a game she figured we'd have fun playing together on the Wii, so I'm looking forward to that. I got bored quickly playing Mario Wii on multiplayer...the coin mode is really not THAT fun unless you are deliberately trying to kill the other people. I didn't even bother going for the coins and just tried to run them all off the map.

Re: Current video game being played
It took me awhile to figure that one out, there's a Wanor Manor bonus board and a bonus board on the Villain side as well. I'm trying to remember exactly what you had to do in this one. I believe you are outside and you can see the whole mansion correct? I think there's a bunch of stuff to destroy out there and there's also a place where you can get into the mansion itself (it might be from the roof, I'm not sure) and you go through this part where there's stuff above and below you and parts of it need to be destroyed or knocked away and that gets you points. You beat it by getting to 1 million points.newarenanow wrote:I do have a question for beerman or whoever else has played Lego Batman. I'll pull the level up when I get home just so I can remember better.

Yeah, I played it for like 10 minutes. You are outside and I destroyed some stuff out there and got like 10,000. Then up on the roof, I found a computer desk and it sucks you in and it's like you are in a Mario game. Was doing that and it didn't seem like I was going to get nearly enough coins, and it was like 10:30 at night, so I quit.beerman wrote:It took me awhile to figure that one out, there's a Wanor Manor bonus board and a bonus board on the Villain side as well. There's a bunch of stuff in there that you have to batarang and some spots where you need one of the characters that you jump higher with to get some studs that are worth more. It's a pretty tedious level actually, I think it took me about 30-40 min to beat it prob, but I wasn't sure what the hell I was doing when I started. I think all I did was smash everything with the bulldozer while your outside and when you go inside, batarang anything that's flashing and make sure you keep checking for anything that's up high.newarenanow wrote:Yeah, I played it for like 10 minutes. Yeah, those missions are pretty pointless. They have similar ones in Lego Indy... the goal is simply to collect a ridiculous number of studs and you literally get nothing for completing it IIRC... you don't get to keep said studs and I don't believe it unlocks anything.beerman wrote:There's a bunch of stuff in there that you have to batarang and some spots where you need one of the characters that you jump higher with to get some studs that are worth more. Twilight Princess is like the spiritual sequel to Ocarina of Time. I know you are a big fan of OoT, so you'll love this one.newarenanow wrote:Just got Zelda the Twighlight Princess and the new Super Mario Bros for Wii so far for Xmas.

It's one of the best Zelda's ever. I really couldn't find too many faults to it. It has some of the most unique and fun sequences ever in the series.

Awesome. I'm pretty pumped to play that one. I have to wrap up two other games before I start that one, because once I start it, I want to focus on it.

I have mixed feelings about Twilight Princess. There are some really awesome parts... some very unique and fun boss fights... and there are other parts that I absolutely despise (bobber fishing, goron wrestling, lost woods).
