Re: LGP Golf Thread
This has been a total clinic so far. *Almost* Tiger 2000-esque. But it's still only Day 2.
Walked the course yesterday for the first time and this place would eat me for lunch and spit out my bones for dessert. It looks like it would totally mess with your mind and as said earlier, if you're on the wrong spot on the greens, good luck.

Kaymer is just dominant. Can't believe anyone is beating this course that badly, let alone the field.

Total props to Kaymer for his performance this week, but man, it killed the Sunday I normally look forward to every Father's Day.

That might have been a smarter bet on the loser's part if it was made on Friday night but geez, it's the US Open and Kaymer had a big enough lead that it would take a monumental collapse (unlikely with him) or someone shooting a score that only Kaymer has ever shot on that golf course (65 or better). Nicely played taking that sucker for his money.

It's amazing how quickly you can play 18 when you go out as a single and people actually let you play through. I started yesterday at 2:10, was done with 18 at 4:30.
Btw, Tiger is playing next weekend. Last I hear he JUST started chipping and putting like a week ago. Think he might be pushing his return a little bit?

I played 36 holes at bedford springs in October by myself in 3 hours and 25 minutes. It was beautiful

He supposedly started hitting full shots during the week of the US Open. He's trying to get himself back for the British on a track where he's won before and get himself set up for the PGA at another track where he's won. But also keep in mind that Quicken Loans benefits his Foundation and his presence = higher ticket sales which = more money for his Foundation. I'm guessing that sales may have been off a little bit and needed a little extra boost. And looking at the field list for next week, there really isn't a headliner in there other than Tiger and Spieth. No Kuchar, no Bubba, no Rory, no Phil, no Kaymer.

My course was the 9 hole at South Park, which I could walk to with my clubs.
I'm sure it was crappy, but I have fond memories of it and can still visualize every hole.

My learning course was Robertshaw Acres outside of Greensburg, near Armbrust. It's a 9-hole course built on what feels like the side of a cliff. I walked it once, the first time. Just once. There was a another round I played in some mild wet and had the longest slowest out of control slide of a golf cart in my life. Backwards, no less.

The first three holes are insanely stupid but once you make it through that it's excellentcount2infinity wrote:It's amazing how far that course has come since I was in high school.Letang Is The Truth wrote:I played 36 holes at bedford springs in October by myself in 3 hours and 25 minutes. What is insanely stupid about holes 2 and 3?
Let the record show this gentleman's record for spped of play was walking 9 holes in an hour 15.

Re: LGP Golf Thread
I have yet to golf on it since the remodel... If i can recall correctly the first hole is a very short par 4, so a good long iron and wedge should do the job. 2 was a really short (like 125 yards short) par 3, and I don't remember 3 at all.

2 is a mid range par 3 these days. crick/mush to the left side runs parallel to the road
3 is a shortish par 5 that runs parallel to the road with a two tier green

ah... 2 used to be perpendicular to the road, down the hill from the green of #1.KennyTheKangaroo wrote:2 is a mid range par 3 these days. crick/mush to the left side runs parallel to the road

Re: LGP Golf Thread
oh i forgot the 2nd hole was par 3. thats a good hole. nice bunker placements. the third hole isnt bad (unremarkable), its just stuck in the crap sandwich between the stupid 'beautiful starting hole' where you have to hit six iron nine iron in to the green and the stupid uphill par 3 VOLCANO. it just really bugs me that the first hole isnt a fairway wood/driver hole. sets a weird tone for the round

Re: LGP Golf Thread
yes the first hole does blow and there really is no other way to describe it. plus you have to factor the first tee jitters/road is in play aspect of the hole. and the blind uphill second shot. it is a sucky hole.
