20 ties. Wow...Quinn won his first Jack Adams Award after guiding the Flyers to a 48-12-20 record and first in the Patrick Division.

That's a whole lot of sister kissing.PensFanInDC wrote:20 ties. Wow...Quinn won his first Jack Adams Award after guiding the Flyers to a 48-12-20 record and first in the Patrick Division.
RIP
Edit: Record is 24 by the 69-70 Flyers who went 17-35-24.
Regardless of all that, RIP to both of these legends of hockey. Did Quinn have any known health problems? 71 is too young in this day and age.

So sad to hear of these two giants passing away on the same day. I've only seen Quinn's death reported as "after an extended illness", but no further details.Dickie Dunn wrote:Regardless of all that, RIP to both of these legends of hockey. Very sad to hear of Pat Quinn's passing as well as Viktor Tikhonov...though, there are a couple of players that won't be too sad about the latter, that's neither here nor there. Both were very important figures in hockey.

That 94 finals remains one of the best playoff series in my lifetime. So entertaining, even though I hate the Rags.

RIP Mr Quinn. Many memorable quotes from him, loved seeing him chew the gum on the bench, even throw it a few times. Hard to believe he was 71, man time flies. I'll raise a glass to you sir, may his Irish eyes keep smilin' in our memories.

From everything I've seen and read, Beliveau was an incredibly down to earth and accessible guy. Very kind to his fans. Great player, greater person. R.I.P.

Re: RIP Thread
Incredibly sad to hear of Beliveau's passing. I was too young to see him play live, but in learning about the sport's history he stood out as one of the guys I most wanted to emulate as a player. Class on and off the ice, a great ambassador for the sport.

It's been 34 years since John Lennon was murdered.

Now I'll sit back and wait for MIMH to ask who John Lennon was.

Actually let me apologize, I thought Lennon sang "Wonderful Christmastime". That song sucks too.
