Yep. If you're deleting Facebook, just do it. Don't make it an attention seeking mission.the wicked child wrote:People feeling the need to inform everyone that they're shutting down the pc or going Facebook dark. You rebels.

Re: Official LGP Facebook Complaint Thread
There were several people that I only corresponded with via Facebook. I posted a "deleting accoubt send me email address if you want to stay in touch" status twice a day for 3 days. I collected the emails and shut down fb. I see no problem with that.Crankshaft wrote:Yep. If you're deleting Facebook, just do it. However, the long winded Facebook suicide notes are just attention seekers.

These people aren't quitting facebook... just getting one last "look at me! I'm such a rebel because I am stepping away from FB to spend time with my family lolzr!" post in... which most people will do w/o the need to tell everyone that they're doing it.

I saw a woman post this morning that she went to a restaurant that recently reopened after a fire and left a $30 tip on a $77 bill because she felt bad about her waitress losing a few weeks worth of work. I mean, it's a nice sentiment, but posting it on FB just seemed lame.

She would have made a greater impact by asking people to patronize the restaurant. She just wanted to make it all about her.Hockeynut! wrote:I saw a woman post this morning that she went to a restaurant that recently reopened after a fire and left a $30 tip on a $77 bill because she felt bad about her waitress losing a few weeks worth of work. There are a handful of my FB friends who deleted their accounts, perhaps they sent out a similar message and I missed it - but every one of these messages that I've seen (at least a half dozen or so), the people who sent them were back on FB within days, and a few were back on within hours.the wicked child wrote:People feeling the need to inform everyone that they're shutting down the pc or going Facebook dark. Coincidentally I deactivated my Facebook today. I didn't send any messages or post a "screw Facebook" statuses, just to be done with it for a while.

Love when my racist redneck cousin posts about sending all the racists of every ethnicity to an island to fight it out... Can't comment on it because he's not "racist" he just you know points out the flaws of other races.

lol This is from a grown man, 37 year old married father of two.
"I'm so tired of hearing about people thinking they have money...I'll show you with pictures of all my new cars." For the record I am not friends with this guy, several friends commented on this status and it popped into my feed, I do know him from seeing him at bars and restaurants around town tho.

I love this guy too. So, he's been hearing about people that think he's broke and that angers him greatly, so he's going to ruin their day by buying a bunch of cars and going broke - of course he'll have to sell his Vette first to get some money. hopefully no one hears about him thinking he has money because they might just have to give him a rude awakening and buy a bunch of cars.DudeMan2766 wrote:Spoiler:

Re: Official LGP Facebook Complaint Thread
What unsettles me most is there are people that are my actual friends who are commenting and taking this clown seriously. Posting things like "You just worry about yourself, don't let what other people think bother you" and blah blah inspirational crap. If I posted stuff like that on facebook I'd be embarrassed to look other people in the eye when I saw them out.

Re: Official LGP Facebook Complaint Thread
speaking of those people making big announcements about leaving facebook.
I'm starting off 2015 by deactivating Facebook.
Although I spend most of my time on here celebrating life's wonderful happenings with my friends, reaching out to those who may need a listening ear, and sharing pictures of my family with long-distance friends and family, the time has come to put an end to all the noise and madness that unfortunately comes along with the good stuff.
I am returning to keeping a hard-copy address book, writing hand-written notes, and maybe even sending the occasional e-mail with pictures of my kids. No more blasting every moment that occurs throughout the day. Those special moments are to be savored, not broadcasted.
I will be spending from now until December 31 building my address book. If you want to keep in touch, comment here or send me a message so we can exchange contact information.
Much love to you all in 2015!

I've about had it with the preponderance of mega-sappy self-help daily affirmation memes.

I just don't get the grandstanding. If there are certain people you want to keep in contact with, then reach out to them. Don't be so lazy as to cast this wide net and beg for people to contact you. Reach out to the people you want to keep in contact with privately, get their info and then move on. No need for the show.
