A few years ago I bought all their CDs in one shot. Was never too exposed to them before for some reason, but really liked the few well-known songs they had. I found that I really like them.

The Doors, Cream, and Rage are the only bands for which I like all of their songs. After that there are very few bands that don't have at least one album that I don't like.

ive been on a steady hold steady, drive by truckers, and replacements kick lately. and some pavement of course.

I just downloaded a bunch of replacements records because i was on a major eighties kick last month.....they've got some really good stuff.

I've recently come to the conclusion that "summer babe" from pavement is one of the best songs ever.

My favorite album right now is Guitar Romantic by the Exploding Hearts, i'm a huge fan of the "punkish" power-pop music.

I just put a bunch of albums on my ipod and am shuffling the stuff I haven't heard before (the starlight mints, Jeffrey Lewis, Gentlemen Jesse and His Men, High Places, Casiotone, and Fabulous Diamonds.

I've been listening to a lot of Eastern European-inspired stuff lately like Beirut and Devotchka. Gulag Orkestar may be one of my favorite albums of all time.

I've been listening to a lot of Eastern European-inspired stuff lately like Beirut and Devotchka. Gulag Orkestar may be one of my favorite albums of all time.

I need to get the new Okkervil River.

I can't get into Devotchka. Beirut is pretty great, i like everything on his last two LP's and the LongIsland EP.

There are a couple real standout tracks on the new Okkervil River, you need to atleast just stream singer/songwriter from somewhere because that is a great song. While i like the upbeat stuff from them, i think the slower songs are kind of boring.

Right now I am listening to the new Slipknot cd. Track 11 called Snuff is one of the best songs I have ever heard. the Chili Peppers, Alter Bridge, Guns N Roses are who I normally listen to. You might want to try the new Motley Crue cd.

That's probably one of my favorite episodes.

The season 2 finale still has me confused. Will the CFO make it to next season (or will he coach the Flyers )? What happened to Mordhaus? What sort of connection does that bearded guy have to Dethklok? Did Pickles really make it?

Anyways, what am I listening to? Strapping Young Lad - Relentless. Gene Hoglan, who played drums for Dethklok also played in SYL. Even if you're not a fan of...well I'm not sure what they'd fall under, thrash metal I guess, Hoglan's drums are unreal.

Yeah, Gene's awesome. One of the best in metal to this day. I've been a huge fan of his since his days in Dark Angel in the 80's. Dark Angel were one of the bands that completely pushed Metallica out of my top 10 list by the time MoP came out.

Leonard has got to be one of my favorite singers around. Not in the same way that Ella Fitzgerald is (my all time #1... I listen to a lot of Jazz, especially the great female singers), but you know what I mean... from the likeability factor.

RJ - if you like Minor Threat, you need to listen to this CD. Finnish band called Mellakka. In Finnish. This is a brilliant "hardcore" CD - d/l it if you've never heard these guys before.

I somehow missed this band myself and only recently discovered them, but they would have been one of my favorite groups back then.

Is anybody here familiar with a 70's progressive / folk rock group named Renaissance? I was in this music store and they were playing something that sounded like heaven, so I asked what it was and they said with a laugh, "Hippie music... a group called Renaissance".

I love this stuff. I wish there was music like this made today. Music that made you think and allow you to lose yourself in your imagination. Popular music made today is so "empty" and without any attachment to one's soul.

Anyway, I seriously need to investigate this group and buy some CDs.

i absolutely cannot stand the new okkervil river. will sheff is out of touch. if GAP and organic hummus had a sound they would sound like okkervil river. its such a let down after the stage names, which, really was kinda boring anyway. i cant dig man, its just so overwrought and every song has morrissey-esque dramatics.

If that's true I'll probably like it. The Smiths are my favorite band.

My album collection is split between Buzzcocks, Black Flag, Crass, Clash, Pistols, Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, Agent Orange, DKs, MDC, on the one side and REM, The Smiths, The Cure, The Jam, Joy Division on the other.

Can't say that I have any Finnish hardcore but I'll check out that band.

Other favorites from this year: Lie Down In The Light by Bonnie Prince Billy, Momofuku by Elvis Costello (kind of a back to the roots album), Object 47 by Wire (same as with Elvis) and the re-issue of Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue. Plus I'm very much looking forward to new albums by The Sea & Cake's and Lambchop. Those two and Kings of Leon are three bands from the US that seem to have a much bigger following (relatively speaking) in Europe than in their homeland.

The Dennis Wilson reissue is sweet, and the Bonnie Prince Billy record is definitely his most universally appealing record.

Lambchop and Sea & Cake are two bands that have always been off my radar.

Well to be fair it's tough to think of things that haven't already gotten plenty of hype.

The only newer acts that i can think of off the top of my head are The Muslims, Gentlemen Jesse and His men, and Titus Andronicus.
