Re: Current video game being played
To be clear, I'm not talking about cheats like aimbots for FPS games.. I'm referring to players creating additional content that expands upon and amplifies the core content of the game. Thanks to the modding community for KSP, for example, players have access to a vastly increased pool of parts and activities. KWRocketry offers dozens of additional rocket engines, fuel tanks, and other parts. ScanSat lets you create mapping satellites. Infernal Robotics adds moving parts to the game, like pistons and powered hinges. FASA offers Kerbal version of historical NASA rockets like Atlas, Saturn IB, and Saturn V. KerbinSide adds additional launch facilities and other structures all over the planet.SolidSnake wrote:I don't like playing games with mods or hackers it's just not appealing to me. I grew up and started on consoles and that's where I will end. I use computers for work and online use not gaming.

The first version of my favorite racing game - rFactor - is basically a mod of the last EA Sports F1 game. Same development, too. You can download extra tracks (some of which are spectacular), cars, entire seasons, fantasy livery packs, etc. So much good stuff.

Re: Current video game being played
Yeah, mods add huge amounts of stuff to PC games. There's a mod that basically turns Crusader Kings II (or something) into a Game of Thrones simulator, and there are similar things for the Civilization series. Faster Than Light allows you to make new ships, events, & everything else with relative ease. The Elder Scrolls games are a COMPLETELY different game on PC. Same with Minecraft or even shooters like Left 4 Dead 2 & Call of Duty. Games tend to have a much longer... shelf life on the PC due to the support of the community that is really difficult for consoles (except for games like Little Big Planet). All for free.
And again, I really like consoles as well. Two very different animals (in good ways for both). Great to have variety like that.

rFactor is cool if you want a certain car. Lots of old BMWs to choose from. Never actually tried it myself, though.

Ouch. That's like my number 1 most anticipated game, too. They haven't officially announced their release date yet, so at least they have that going for them.tifosi77 wrote:Can't go into details about this, but my early advice on this line is to not get overly excited about the next Metal Gear Solid game. Again, need to be vague, but Konami got their butts chewed out for the build version they submitted as the alpha candidate. It............... did not go well.
I just read an article that mentions that Kojima is having trouble setting up a tutorial for the game because of it's size. I thought to myself, "well you had a tutorial mission in Ground Zeroes."

Yeah, there's a reason for that. Between you, me and the lamppost, the internal discussions were that the target launch date was going to be holiday 2014. Honestly, with the number and variety of problems they've had, they'll be lucky if they make Q3 2016. No joke.Spangler wrote:They haven't officially announced their release date yet, so at least they have that going for them.

Re: Current video game being played
In the little bit of time I got to spend with the new Diablo patch, a few observations...
Some new Treasure Goblins... I may have encountered multiples, but it was a pack and there was fire, ice, lit, etc all raining down so no idea, but the main one I noticed was the Blood Thief... dropped a ton of blood shards. Each one seemed to be +24 which was nice.
Already got a few Ancient Item drops, though nothing useful just yet.
Console now has the update to Kadala that has been on PC for awhile... they increased the prices but raised the chances of getting something useful. I managed to get 4 legendaries so this seems about right.
I was worried about the changes to Marauder's set affecting my Demon hunter negatively, but it is quite the opposite... it seems this has made her more powerful. I do like the change to "charges" for sentries since I can now drop 3 immediately and then 2 more after a time instead of eating the entire cooldown between each sentry. Changing the sentries to use hatred spenders when you do instead of "for free" could have been bad, but the full set bonus that grants +100% dmg to basically all your attack skills per active sentry makes this much more powerful... it also puts the player back in control instead of "drop some sentries and stand back" mode... I suspect I may be able to go deeper into the grifts with this character now.
Now if I could just find that damn Marauder's armor so I can put my Tasker 'n Theo gloves back on for the pet atk speed increase...
The density of enemies in rifts was GREATLY increased. It seems like there are always more enemies around the corner. This is great, as long as you're not in over your head.

Way too complicated for my simple life. Wii U for me. I played for a good hour last night. I had to remove clothing it was such a workout. This is great exercise, I feel bad for everyone who has to appear on the dance floor at the next wedding I go to.nocera wrote:Do you play on Xbox One?eddysnake wrote:Just dance 2014 ordered, can't wait for careless whisper (and Prince ali)

I dusted off Mario Kart Wii since I didn't play it much when it first came out. I have almost every character and bike open. Good to just kill some time. I still want to play Skyward Sword, but just don't have the time to commit right now.

Re: Current video game being played
I'm curious as to what you guys who have Xbone w/ Kinect think of the Kinect. I opted for the cheaper Kinect-less version since I had the 360 Kinect and didn't use it at all, save for a week or two after I bought it.
What do you guys think of it? Do you use it often? Are there any fun games, or is it used primarily for voice commands?

Re: Current video game being played
I use 0% of it for gaming. But it's pretty cool. I snap skype on and talk to my cousin during Pens games. I walk downstairs and just say "Xbox, on" and it turns on. Just kinda cool to do. Worth the extra money? Meh. But I got mine on Black Friday last year so I didn't have a choice.nocera wrote:I'm curious as to what you guys who have Xbone w/ Kinect think of the Kinect. Anyone in the thread playing Far Cry 4? Was going to post about it, but won't bother if no one else is playing.

I want to play it, have it sitting in the plastic still. Too much of a backlog in games to start it right now.

Honestly, I don't trust it. Burn me once, GFY.
From where? Amazon can go screw but maybe I'll give another vendor a shot.

Yeah, Amazon has it. I'm still in the return window for Amazon. Might call them and see if I can work out a deal, if not, might return it and rebuy it.

Yeah, me too. This is the only problem I've ever had with Amazon. They gave me a free Kindle once because I left mine in a cargo pocket while flying on a C-17 and I shattered it. They just mailed me a new one no questions asked.
