Double Treasure Goblins for PC, PS4 and XB1 players and 100% bonus to Legendary drop rate for 360 and PS3 players in Diablo 3 from Jan 16-23.

Which means PSN will probably go down that weekend, since it always does when they have events.

Was just watching a "5 fun facts" video on Metroid Prime... apparently the same game engine used for MP was the basis for Donkey Kong Country Returns. The most interesting part to me was the last one... some people that split off from Retro to create their own company were working on a Mega Man game that was in the same style as MP and would have also been a trilogy. I'm kinda sad that it never came to be.

I'm still holding out hope that eventually Retro will make another Metroid game...

They're overnighting me a new PS4 with the correct code, and I have 30 days to return mine with the shipping label they generated. Which satisfies the customer, but has to cost way more than just sending me the correct digital code or even sending me a hard copy of The Last of Us. Weird resolution from a business standpoint.

The code comes from an e-mail, so I'll probably just send them their PS4 back without ever opening it so at least they can resell it with minimal issues.

Oh man. Found a new Ancient Hand Crossbow for my Demon hunter that increased my damage quite a bit... Then I found a Gift of Rimaldi or whatever it's called in a grift, so I was able to reroll the socket into more damage and then use that to add the socket back. Also found an Ancient version of Marauder's Helm. Quite a productive session.

Of course the game also trolled me by dropping The Shadow's Bane armor and 2 Blackthorne's armors but still no Marauder's armor... driving me nuts.

Really love what these updates have done for this char though... total beast.

A lot of that stuff is driven by the publishers. There are often crazy restrictions on how the codes are doled out. My previous company was doing a code thing 3-4 years ago and after launch there was some suspicion that an employee was giving codes to their friends. So instead of merely monitoring how the codes were being redeemed, we actually killed the entire batch of codes that had been generated for us (that is handled by a third party vendor) and got a whole new batch of codes. To prevent one employee from handing out maybe ten codes. Figure that cost at $60 per copy of the game vs the $5,000 it cost to get new codes....

Granted, with giveaway stuff there are added regulatory issues. It's complicated, and I don't fully understand it myself.

So, FedEx didn't pick up the PS4 for 24 hours after Amazon generated the label. The code won't ship via e-mail until 2 days after the PS4 shipping completes. So instead of getting the code sometime this weekend (I have 4 days off, Fri-Mon) I'll get my code sometime in the middle of next week because the delivery was pushed back to Monday. Boo.

I'm just whinging now, but the lunacy of me not being able to get my code until after I have the shimpment for two days is just part of my hate for digital crap.

This 2.1.2 patch for Diablo is really shaking things up for some of my characters. My Demon Hunter has just gone into straight up beast mode. I finally found Marauder's armor (twice, actually), so I was able to get my crack pets back. The updates to Marauders are just sick in terms of the damage you can do now.

I found another Ramaladini's gift so I was able to reroll the socket on my Wizard's wand to get more damage and then use that to get a socket... that added like 120k paper DPS, so probably millions in real damage.

Also, the updated Monkey King's garb set looks like it is going to put the Monk back on my radar. Exploding fire clones that deal 25+ million a pop before I've even remotely optimized my gear? Going to be real nice.

Finally found the box with Alien: Isolation in it, though. So that will ease my pain.

Sad that I haven't watched the movie yet, though. Need to find it VOD somewhere.

Finally finished Shadows of Mordor. That was honestly the best game and the most fun I had playing a game for all of 2014. A game that had its story taken from movies/books that I pretty much hate. The combat/fighting system is very similar to the Batman Arkham games, and the climbing, free running is similar to Assassins Creed, it's like they took the two things made them better and said here you go. Just an awesome/fun game. It can be had pretty cheap too, recommend those who haven't played it give it a shot.

The only thing that really let me down is the very last boss battle is nothing more than a QTE(basically press button here, then press button here etc). The two battles prior to that are awesome, but after all the ass kicking you do in the game and the glorious battle system having that be the last boss battle was just meh.

If there is any piece of media I would love to totally forget ever playing, simply so I could re-experience the awe of playing it for the first time again, it is the original Bioshock.

Skip AC 1 - read the story online and pick it up with AC 2

With that list though...I would play Bioshock first...I still have yet to play infinite myself

Bioshock was $5 this weekend and Infinite was $3.50 a few weeks ago on Xbox Live.

I played just a wee bit of Infinite and really liked it so far. I just need to make up my mind which game I'm committing to. I keep playing Titanfall.

Even tho the gameplay is a fairly repetitive, I still recommend playing AC1 through. It's a cool story, and the setting is pretty excellent.

The Alien Anthology BR is excellent. I don't even like 3 or Resurrection, but I love the BTS content. I'm Facebook friends with the two guys who supervised the creature fx on all but the first film (one of them is a yinzer), and it's fun seeing them post some stuff that's not on the official making ofs.

Of those five, I'd agree with the others & say Bioshock first. The Halos are fun, but I think I have more nostalgia for them than them still being great games. The multiplayer is a blast, though, and they're fun shooters. GTA5 is supposed to be a lot of fun, though (never played it myself).

If you're looking for campaigns, it doesn't get much better than the first three Halo games. Unfortunately, the Halo MCC multiplayer is still basically unplayable for me. Others have had issues saving their campaigns on Halo MCC. I have not, but it's something to be aware of.
