Interesting. Perhaps I'll have to d/l those free games then. They sound interesting. They stay free ince you "buy" them, right? So if I don't get to them right away, it doesn't matter.

I passed on it because it looked like Anime and I just don't identify with it. I would've mentioned it but I couldn't recall what the other choice was.

They're 'free' until you cancel PS+, then you lose access to them. So they're licensed, basically.the wicked child wrote:Interesting. Perhaps I'll have to d/l those free games then. They change every month, but you can d/l it and then look at it later. I did that with last months game, The Swapper, haven't played it yet.

Yeah, as long as you're on PS+. They usually stay activated for a year, but then if you notice they expired all you have to do is launch them and they re-activate for another year or so. I have unplayed games from PS+ from like 3 years ago and had to re-activate them twice now. You don't even have to download them immediately, but do "purchase" them so they were on your bought list.dodint wrote:They're 'free' until you cancel PS+, then you lose access to them. Re: Current video game being played
If you aren't familiar with the original Thief games (particularly Thief: The Dark Project and Thief II: The Metal Age), then you will probably think the new Thief is an okay game. If you are familiar with the originals, then you'll most likely hate it. The new Thief is like Nickelback covering a great song from another band. If you aren't a big fan of the original band, you can think "Eh, that doesn't completely suck." If you are a fan of the original band, then you'll react much differently.Sarcastic wrote:Anyone likes Thief? It's free for PS3.

I never played the original games. I know they were popular. Alright, I won't get too excited to play it. I watched a little walkthrough on youtube... seemed kinda boring. Just sneaking around. Maybe it gets better.Shyster wrote:If you aren't familiar with the original Thief games (particularly Thief: The Dark Project and Thief II: The Metal Age), then you will probably think the new Thief is an okay game. Yeah that game was pretty sweet.Froggy wrote:Yeah. Re: Current video game being played
I got Theif for the PC last year. It didn't hold my interest, but it looked like a pretty fun game...if that makes sense.
Anyone else playing the BF:Hardline beta? Cops vs. robbers?
It's interesting, but I'm not sure it's a day one full price purchase for me. Visceral has gone out of their way to incorporate BF community feedback through two open betas and a lots of focus group testing. As most of you remember, the BF4 launch was a little rough for most people. It took them six months to get it stable for most players, and nearly a year to get it tuned.
My complaint was that it felt like a $60 DLC, but they have largely overhauled even the smallest mechanics of the game. Things like picking up ammo and health from teammates - even if they haven't deployed a ammo/medkit bag. Locking some gamemodes to certain server player sizes is a huge change - in previous BF titles, you could have the "smaller" gamemodes like Rush or TDM on 64 player servers. While some might like that, those modes are designed for smaller (24 or 32) player counts. This is a great change.

Re: Current video game being played
So I tried out Apotheon last night... I like the idea of the game, but I'm not crazy about the controls. In particular, the attacking feels clunky and slow.
This could also be due to just finishing a run of Diablo with my Monk who attacks lightning fast.
I'll give it a bit more time, but it will need to grow on me.

The Humble Bundle right now is all Star Wars. Got the whole thing for $12 and it included KoTOR 1 and 2, which is worth it on their own.

I evade a lot while I fumble around either trying to strike or while switching weapons. I think I'll get it eventually, though.the wicked child wrote:So I tried out Apotheon last night... They really need to do HD updated or just make the original versions of both those KotOR games available on the xb1. Hell I would be fine if they even did it for the 360 at this point.GSdrums87 wrote:The Humble Bundle right now is all Star Wars. I was just chiding you for complaining about the sneaking around in a game called Thief.

One of my 9 year old sons is close to finishing KOTOR. The part of the game where you find out who your character really is had him stunned.

There's nothing anime about it other than the art style looking vaguely like it.dodint wrote:I passed on it because it looked like Anime and I just don't identify with it. I would've mentioned it but I couldn't recall what the other choice was.

Vaguely?

It was enough to turn me off of it. I'm strictly judging by the cover, maybe the game is cool.

Re: Current video game being played
I haven't read a single bad thing about Transistor (and it's predecessor, Bastion). Bastion won game of the year by a lot of the PC folks, and Transistor follows in its footsteps. Bastion was great.
Yeah, don't judge that book by the cover.
(Edit: That being said, it's not for everyone. It's a platformer / adventure / RPG game.... kinda like a semi-2d Legend of Zelda, Streets of Rage, Secret of Mana, etc.)

The reason I say "vaguely" is because the artwork in the game looks a little different, and that's what I was basing it off of.dodint wrote:Vaguely?

Thanks for the info, and it sounds better than I thought. Just ordered it. If I don't like it, guess I get to blame you.meow wrote:Brother in law is all about this now. The controls seem...too tight. It takes too much time to turn and I don't think there is a sensitivity setting to play with. It is a lot deeper than I thought it was going to be. You learn new skills, moves, and how to make better weapons as you level up. I was expecting more of a Left 4 Dead game, but it is a lot more involved than that. I'd recommend it.offsides wrote:Sounds like my kind of game. Seems to be getting pretty decent reviews.
