Examples of sprawling cities are Atlanta, Tampa and Grand Rapids, Mich., while Chicago, Boston and Baltimore are all examples of more compact urban areas.
Interesting inclusion in relation to the other examples. But anyway, it has to be about disgusting, hot, steamy pavement that goes on for miles and acts as giant urban grill. Pavement, to me, embodies all that is wrong with the development of mankind. It has it's advantages, obviously, but it's an overused, overspread, soulless burden on nature.
That's true and I never really thought of it that much before in terms of heat and raising temps.
Then people turn on their air conditioning that gives off heat to the outside, thus increasing the temperature even more, making people turn up their air conditioning higher... etc etc.... hot as hell.

We aren't going to last that long.
Well, it's a cycling event that happens every freakin' day. That one of the reasons a city is always hotter than the surrounding suburbs. Grass also helps absorb humidity.
if nature didn't make it so hot, we wouldn't need air conditioners. Corvi, I think it's time you stop blaming the solutions to the problem and start blaming the source. It begins with nature making it hot so we need a/c units. Fix that and no more a/c.

I hate concrete too, and I would take living in the country every day of the week, but it's impractical for everyone to be driving on dirt roads or taking the Oregon Trail to work.
