Our home is only 25 years old or so. The problem is (I went outside), the ground is frozen, it is raining, and the water is just puddling right outside our basement window. There's absolutely nothing i can do about it right now..I tried to chip at the ice as much as I could to provide some drainage but it is a lost cause right now. I've never been more excited for it to be 0 degrees.PensFanInDC wrote:Yay homeownership? This is the stuff I fear when we buy an older home.

You are racking up enough negative homeowner karma that at some point, Hurricane Turd in 2017 is going to be the first Cat-5 hurricane to miraculously make landfall in East Bumblef**k, Wisconsin.dodint wrote:New homes don't get moist.

The caricature of you that I have created in my head. Why?
I'd like some moist. When I use the treadmill in my gym my throat gets scratchy.

For those familiar with cucumber and ohioPyle falls, go check out immersion research on facebook. They literally kayaked over cucumber falls today, which is like a 30 foot waterfall that usually just trickles over.

Re: The Weather Thread
I am not familiar with those particular falls, but about four years ago, we camped out in Ohiopyle for the weekend and went whitewater rafting. It poured down rain the ENTIRE weekend. It was cool when we were rafting, but wow did it suck for camping. Saturday night, I remember it stopped raining for a few hours, we finally got a campfire started, and then it started pouring again. Good times.mac5155 wrote:For those familiar with cucumber and ohioPyle falls, go check out immersion research on facebook. Just came from outside and it is snow ball making weather at its finest. All you have to do is pick up a handful and between the rain and ice you've got yourself a cannon ball.

Boss just sent text saying we could work from home if are roads are bad. Almost feel bad if I stay home, cause even though the roads are crap by my house I know I only have a 20 minute commute and could probably get there without issue.

I have a 10 min commute and went off the road yesterday. Better to just stay at home and be safe.skullman80 wrote:Boss just sent text saying we could work from home if are roads are bad. Yeah I'm staying home. I ventured out of my street and even the main roads near me are crap.Kovy27 wrote:I have a 10 min commute and went off the road yesterday. Re: The Weather Thread
Roads in the city are horrendous.
That said, my bus came on time. Cars in front us had problems, the bus didn't. Only delay was when a wheelchair had a hard time getting over the snow onto the bus.
Driver and I were talking while bus was at a light near my work stop. He said the newer buses are lightweight (I'm guessing to use less fuel) and slide all over the place. He had an older bus, which was much heavier and "drove like a tank". We didn't slip, slide or get stuck.

Are things so bad these days that people have resorted to doing coke at coffee shops?

45 minutes to uncover and dig out your car is so not a party.
