i went to a place called DiMarco's in Uniontown Friday and it was great... You get steak by the ounce, $1.10 per, and it comes with a potato, salad, soup, and bread. pretty good and reasonable price too.

Meh. I don't get their chicken parm so it doesn't much matter to me. I'm also generally more of a fan of traditional red sauce restaurants. I like simple traditional food, I don't need the trendy stuff.thehockeyguru wrote:I refuse to go to an Italian Restaurant that serves Chicken Parm. For that reason Pasta Too is out. i dont think so, as they have a 52 ounce "Colorado challenge" or something for $50. eat it all and get your picture on the wall iirc.canaan wrote:is there a limit to the steak size?mac5155 wrote:i went to a place called DiMarco's in Uniontown Friday and it was great... I am not sure how you can be taken seriously as an Italian Restaurant when you have Crab Cakes and Hot Turkey Devonshire on the menu.stopper40 wrote:thehockeyguru wrote:BadHands71 wrote:Iovino cafe in Mt. Lebo is very good. Small place, but fantastic food.
Out in Bethel Park, I like Pasta Too. Simple, traditional Italian place. Good food, massive portions. Expect to wait though.
Up on Mt. Washington, I love Satalio's. Again, simple, good Italian food.
For pizza, I like Fiori's and Napoli's. Napoli's is my favorite, but the distance is a hinderance on occasion.
Bangkok Balcony in Squirrel Hill is my favorite for Thai.
I refuse to go to an Italian Restaurant that serves Chicken Parm. For that reason Pasta Too is out. Try il pizzaiolo or dish instead.
Pasta Two rocks. Great food, great portions

Remember that time when someone named shadnutz posted about PGH restaurants despite never having lived here nor having eaten at the restaurants in question? I do. It was the worst.shafnutz05 wrote:http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/23/270123/r ... Pittsburghslappybrown wrote:Fiori's and Bankgkok Balcony are two of the worst eateries/restaurants in Pittsburgh. Okay, this is one of the dishes listed on the menu at Dish:thehockeyguru wrote:What do you mean trendy stuff?BadHands71 wrote:Meh. I don't get their chicken parm so it doesn't much matter to me. While it may be fabulous and wonderful, the most delicious thing in the world, it's not what I think of when someone says Italian food.Tonno alla Griglia
Grilled yellow fin tuna in a salmoriglio sauce
And served with a warm Sicilian potato salad with arugula, red onions,
Green beans, celery and capers. 25
I obviously have a different preference on Italian than you. I've eaten at both Dish and Il Pizzaiolo on multiple occasions, and while i enjoyed my meal, it's not the first place I'm going to go when I want Italian.
Frankly, i think you and I are doomed to disagree on almost everything, so let's leave it at that.
Until someone here is buying me dinner, I'll eat wherever I please.

Having lived in Rome I agree that some of the stuff on the menu is a bit extravagant, and not "traditional Italian". But I would rather go there than eat at a place like Pasta Too which equates to egg noodles and ketchup. Dish and other good Italian places also have the more traditional Italian dishes like Penne Al Salmone, Linguine Frutti di Mare, Penne Arrabiata, and so on.

Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
Woohoo, you lived in Rome and are therefore the foremost authority on Italian cuisine. I should immediately stop eating where I want to because you deam it "lesser quality". I'm not saying one is better than the other, I'm saying they are DIFFERENT restaurants that fall under the same umbrella of Italian food. I can appreciate the food at Dish just as much as Pasta Too, but it doesn't change my personal preference. That's all I'm saying.thehockeyguru wrote:Having lived in Rome I agree that some of the stuff on the menu is a bit extravagant, and not "traditional Italian". No one here is forcing you to eat at Pasta Too or any other "lesser" restaurant. It is all a matter of OPINION. Say it with me, OPINION.

Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
I am not saying that I know more about Italian Cusine, but having lived there for a while I can taste when a sauce is fresh and when it has lesser ingredients and perservatives. Being over there pretty much ruined "American Italian" for me. I am not knocking your personal preference if you like eating there fantastic, but to say that Pasta Too is good Italian Food wouldn't be entirely accurate.BadHands71 wrote:Woohoo, you lived in Rome and are therefore the foremost authority on Italian cuisine. Let's agree to disagree. Please? Because all the food discussion is making me hungry for food I can't have at the moment.thehockeyguru wrote:I am not saying that I know more about Italian Cusine, but having lived there for a while I can taste when a sauce is fresh and when it has lesser ingredients and perservatives.
