Surprised at the absence of stone hands this season. If he's not on the finale, I don't know how they'll work him in.

Episode 10 is apparently 66 minutes long. Good omen to the quality and should hopefully, maybe, stop the complaints about the show ending before 10 for at least one week.

I tried giving the first episode of this show a shot, but I wasn't really feeling it.
How far into the first season do you need to get before the characters and plot are all set into motion?

i can't imagine someone liking this show if they didn't like episode 1. it's a good representation of the series as a whole.pittsoccer33 wrote:I tried giving the first episode of this show a shot, but I wasn't really feeling it.

Re: George R.R. Martin
It's even more impressive in the book. In the book, the man who held the gate and killed Mag the Mighty was Donal Noyne, the blacksmith for the Night's Watch. When Noyne was younger he worked for House Baratheon, and he was the man who forged Robert Baratheon's warhammer (which Robert used to kill Rhaegar Targaryen). Noyne lost an arm fighting in Robert's rebellion, but he still managed to kill the giant one-handed.Spangler wrote:Even though Grenn was a minor character, I thought his death was one of the more powerful of the series. He had a heroic death that will largely be forgotten or never known.
If he didn't stop that giant, the Nights Watch might have been destroyed entirely, therefore he may have saved Westeros.

When Ned gets to Kings Landing, is that maybe the 4th episode?shmenguin wrote:i can't imagine someone liking this show if they didn't like episode 1. it's a good representation of the series as a whole.pittsoccer33 wrote:I tried giving the first episode of this show a shot, but I wasn't really feeling it.

Re: George R.R. Martin
I know multiple (non-book reading people) who almost quit after the first episode. Because of the White Walker focus in that first ep, people assume its all about that type of ghouls and fantasy type stuff, rather than the heavy political intrigue that follows throughout season one.shmenguin wrote:i can't imagine someone liking this show if they didn't like episode 1. it's a good representation of the series as a whole.pittsoccer33 wrote:I tried giving the first episode of this show a shot, but I wasn't really feeling it.

Watching again, I can't figure out how all of them died fighting the giant.
Also looks like they might be deviating from Slynt and Thorne a lot from the books. I kind of like Thorne in the show though.

It was in the epilogue of storm of swords. With so much left to cover it would make a good opening to next season.shafnutz05 wrote:Spoiler alert for anyone that hasn't read the books:

Great episode! I'm really happy we didn't have major cliffhangers but all the major storylines now have new routes for next season. Loved the resolution of the Tyrion story!
