Apardon me if this a stupid question:
But why did Reebok allow all of the new 3rd jersey INDO EDGE to sell out in October/November?
Should not Reebok want to sell as many jerseys as possible? Why no re-stock anywhere at all?
Would they not make more money if they had the jersey available all season long? I mean 5-6 months without Indo Edge, is it really smart business?
Whats the reasoning behind this strategy?

I'm so confused about this too. I don't understand why they don't restock.Lesky wrote:Apardon me if this a stupid question:

Lesky, there were many people who were surprised when the Penguins thirds that hit the team stores were 7231 Indo-Edge's, as rumor had it that Reebok was doing away with Indo-Edges altogether in favor of making 7287 Edge 2.0's available at retail. The fact that Indo-Edges aren't readily available for some months (I haven't checked on this as I'm an Indo-Edge hater!) seems to lend some credence to this rumor. But remember, it's only rumor at this point.Lesky wrote:Apardon me if this a stupid question: But why did Reebok allow all of the new 3rd jersey INDO EDGE to sell out in October/November? in my experience with Reebok jerseys I think they have a serious supply issue and it's not just for the pro jerseys. a few years ago one of my beer league teams was getting new jerseys. we chose to go with the Habs jersey colors and pattern. Reebok was the best supplier to go with. it was like pulling teeth to get enough for the whole team. their manufacturing needs to step it up.

Re: Official Pittsburgh Penguins Jersey & Gear Discussion Th
Hi everyone. Thanks for starting this thread. I wanted to ask for some jersey customization help. I have a blank white/home SP Wilkes Barre Penguins jersey from the early 2000s. I want to get it customized with a Lemieux name and number kit from the Black and Gold game he played there in 2001. The kit (black, gold, red numbers and captain's C and black nameplate) is very hard to find so I think I may have to get it custom made. If anyone has any ideas how to possibly get this done and what it might cost I'd really appreciate it. I'm only looking for a good kit since I can easily have it sewn to jersey. Thanks.

I'm sure there are shops you could potentially try to track down that could, but without a doubt I'd send you to Keener:
http://www.keenerjerseys.com/fans" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The guy can make anything and everything. Just get him as much photo reference as you can and I'm sure it something he can do. He'll tell you if he can't.
Here is his older web page with a huge gallery of even more items that might not be on his new business page:
https://keenercomedy.wordpress.com/keen ... ollection/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I've personally used the guy for custom kits, and he's delivered amazing work, at an extremely fair price. Roughly $50 a kit (shipped) each time for the older 90's era Pens jerseys. He makes the kit, takes photos for you to see before he sews the numbers/letters together, and then will either sew them down for you on the jersey if you mail it, or just mail you the kit straight in the mail so you can sew down on the jersey yourself.
Considering you have the ability to sew it to the jersey yourself I couldn't recommend anyone higher, especially for older stuff. It's not that I wouldn't send him jerseys if I couldn't sew them together myself...but I don't trust the postal service(s) (he's in Canada), and it's REALLY expensive to ship a jersey each direction.
I've not asked him to do the current on-ice customization for the Pens Home/Away, so I might default to HoH for stuff like that, but otherwise the guy is pure gold.

Haze, you're absolutely killing me! I never knew about Keener or their services, so there were so many jerseys I'd have never bought because I could never get them lettered. If my wife threatens me with bodily injury, I'm sending her your way!
Hey, did you ever put together the website of your collection? I've always been wanting to see it. This thread has finally been the impetus of putting my own together. Site design is done, but I still need to take pictures. I expect to have it up and running within a few weeks if all goes well.

Haze, thanks so much for the recommendation. I contacted Keener and he said he's made the kit I'm looking for before. His price is the same as HoH so I'm debating now the best way to get this done. I'm still waiting to hear back from the Wilkes Barre Penguins store to see if they can do it. Through some research, I found the company (Sport-Jes, Inc.) who did the actual jersey customization for the team back in 2001 in Plymouth, PA but the number listed online and on their facebook page is disconnected. Thanks again for the help and if you have any more ideas or contacts they'll be very much appreciated.

My sympathies to your wife, jeff
No - I haven't. I'm waiting until I finish up a few that are sitting, waiting to be finished. Even then, I'll probably only upload to an image hosting site. I'll let you know though - I'm hoping to be done with the last ones soon!
And Jimmy - No problem. I hope it all works out for you.

I have this Lemieux jersey in my collection, Sport-Jes did the customization and sent it to Europe. Looks great! The real deal. Hope you can reach them! Cost was 90$! I called them and set up the deal back in 2010 or 2011.JimmyPaek wrote:Hi everyone. Thanks for starting this thread. I wanted to ask for some jersey customization help. I also have the email conversation left in my email inbox. I can give you their email adress. Or I can forward the whole email conversation to you for reference!? Let me know. I will be glad to help!
Would it be OK for me to post the email adress here? Or is that not allowed? Moderators?

Well, it took me about ten years to get around to doing it, but I did it. This thread was what pushed me over the edge (don't know if that's a good thing or not). Lots of photos here that can be used for comparison purposes between years, brands, and models of jerseys. http://jeffshly.weebly.com/

Thanks for the kind words. How'd you like that "Groop" thing? Damn counterfeiters! Some of the stories behind these jerseys are funny, the Lemieux autograph being one of them.Admin wrote:Very nice! Man, that Lemieux All-Star jersey is awesome!

Yea, that All-Star is no joke. VERY cool!
Now you're pushing me to finish customizing the few on my table right now, and take photos...
Guess I have to fire up the sewing machine this weekend...

I've only recently just started doing it for fun...and to save money (which is fun!).
Buy the kit from someone and sew it all down myself.

Really loving this thread. Does anyone know where to get the following jersey:

I'd love to get a Kehoe navy blue, but I can only find the whites from this era, at least online.

Re: Official Pittsburgh Penguins Jersey & Gear Discussion Th
dman66, I've seen some Dave Schultz throwback replicas that were made as part of the Mitchell & Ness Vintage line of throwbacks. ChuckThomas.com has a size 56 available now for $250 (http://www.chuckthomas.com/penjer.htm), though he's had it there for a while, so he might be willing to cut you a deal. However, I think they come customized as Schultz jerseys right from the manufacturer, so I don't even know if they're available as blanks. If you could get your hands on a blank, you could have it lettered by a number of different places that could get you close or exact to the lettering used back in the day. If you're willing to go with the white jersey you pictured above, there's a CCM Vintage throwback on eBay right now (http://www.ebay.com/itm/RICK-KEHOE-Pitt ... 485947ceef).
There's always the game-worn route if you want the real deal, but be prepared to pay and arm, a leg, and at least part of your other arm for it. Way too rich for my blood!

Thanks for the help! I've seen the Dave Schultz one occasionally on ebay, but haven't seen any blanks yet. Really don't want to go the game worn route either, but we'll see.

Well done! I am sure it took some time to do all that, effort well spent! Great work, site looks nice, fun read and beautiful jerseys
