I think you should add a seer. Maybe see every other night.

Or allow one of the 2 angels to diagnose ("see") in lieu of vaccinating, if they so choose?

Re: ¡EBOLA! Warz Game Summary and Write-Up
They would still help spread it through a vote or whatever mechanism, just blindly.redwill wrote:Well it would certainly slow things down, but that would be an entirely different game, since they wouldn't be able to communicate with Patient Zero and would therefore simply die without helping to spread the virus.Willie Kool wrote:No contact. They don't even know they are infected until they die. I'd think we would have had more infected people ending up in quarantine and the votes certainly wouldn't have been as spread out - for maximum exposure - towards the end.
It would be like a Werewolf game but with randomly-delayed killings.

Take out the random.org stuff. Infections last X days then you die.

I dunno. I liked the random.org aspect of it. Otherwise it just seems like a normal game with delayed/deferred deaths. I want it to be different.

I didn't think Doc was gonna come through with his vote on tfrizz. But he did.columbia wrote:If Doc had been modding the game, the PMs would have read, "Congratulations, you've been infected! "

I like it, if it is limited to detecting infection. If seen, PZ comes back as 'infected' and not red.MRandall25 wrote:Or allow one of the 2 angels to diagnose ("see") in lieu of vaccinating, if they so choose?
I do too, but I'd suggest a longer life for the infected - say 2-5 days (instead of phases) with the infected not becoming infectious until day 2 or 3.MRandall25 wrote:I dunno. Also, they should be doctors, not angels
I like the idea of the game though.

Re: ¡EBOLA! Warz Game Summary and Write-Up
@WK, perhaps if we do get the numbers, I'll lengthen the life of the infected, but for a game this small and trying out the new concept, I wanted to keep it short.
4-10 total phases sounds like a nice even number. Would also work with the angel vaccines as well, since they could get a few in without having to constantly protect themselves.
I'm just using angel because that's the standard Warz term for a player with a role like slappy's. But I was referring to him as The CDC otherwise.

Doctor is actually the original Mafia equivalent of the Warz angel.

Re: ¡EBOLA! Warz Game Summary and Write-Up
I was disappointed when we infected obhave and she died immediately.
Disappointed for her, sure, because she, y'know, died from ebola, but also for me because she was of no use.
But more disappointed for her. True story. ... Or not really.
The point being that the random element was a tiny bit of an equalizer.

Obhave was disappointed too. I think she had an idea for how the game was working, and had at least some of her suspicions confirmed when I told her she got infected.

Re: ¡EBOLA! Warz Game Summary and Write-Up
Another possible twist would be a percentage chance that an infectious vote would actually result in infection.

Re: ¡EBOLA! Warz Game Summary and Write-Up
The only twist might be to have the instructions from PZ flow through the mod instead of direct. Same net effect but the infected doesn't then know who PZ is. And maybe have a max number of new infections per phase.
This was like Animal Farm (Swine Flu) on steroids.

I just hope everyone comes back for the next one we do (obviously, won't be for a few months).

God help the mod that has to handle that volume of PMs.relantel wrote:The only twist might be to have the instructions from PZ flow through the mod instead of direct.

I think I almost completely filled my inbox with PMs just from this game.

He never answered the original PM, and it was sitting in my outbox, so I deleted it.

Thanks for the game, MRandall and PFIDC.
It was a great pleasure for me personally and maybe the beginning of a somewhat different type of Wars game.

I was mulling over outing redwill as patient zero so I could take over but decided against it. I did spell out ebola with my vote to try to give a clue as to why I was voting for slappy even though he had declared as angel.

As I said, that second bandwagon on slappy looked like bad news for the village.

Re: ¡EBOLA! Warz Game Summary and Write-Up
I knew you were mulling it over. I sent you a reminder, which you saw. Then you took almost two hours to vote. I checked for your vote about every two or three minutes. I knew you were thinking about rebelling.Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:I was mulling over outing redwill as patient zero so I could take over but decided against it. That would have been bad form, IMO, but I see where it came from. Would have been interesting.
Didn't at all notice the "EBOLA" in your poem. Well done, sir.

Re: ¡EBOLA! Warz Game Summary and Write-Up
Being put into QT and being infected in the same phase murdered my will to participate, not that I got the chance to. QT should be an auto-cure. It would prolong the game and change the QT voting incentive as well.

Re: ¡EBOLA! Warz Game Summary and Write-Up
Quarantine should not be an auto cure. That's what the angel(s) would have been for. It would prolong the game too much to the point where people would stop caring because it never would end.
Quarantine is there to potentially stop the disease from spreading. If anything, quarantine should have been an auto kill for any infected players who entered it.
