Agreed...i thought some of the hype they were getting from the EP was a little unwarranted...but the full length is solid...Andrew is such an awesome song.something new - crystle antlers. wow. what a band.

Re: Let's talk about music
Without a doubt. Though they get less consideration than others since there's been no new material or tours or concerts (save some one-offs) since Bonham's death in 1980. Plant-Page-Jones probably made the right call in disbanding rather than settling for a lesser substitute for Bonham. Though it would have been nice to see how they would have handled the 80s trends, like how Chicago changed and adapted, only to return to their roots in the 90s.farnham16 wrote:Led Zeppelin. Best. Zep leads my playlist more often than not, with some Rush, Nugent, Rundgren, Cooper, Queen, Stones and The Who thrown in for good measure. Itunes has Zep's whole catalog for $99. Pretty good deal. Best channel ever = XM46(DirecTV 833) "Classic Vinyl". Weeds out the too modern stuff.

Re: Let's talk about music
back in one of those moods where I'm listening to stuff from the old skater days....again. Sub Society was a band that appeared in a lot of the skateboarding videos and has been covered by plenty of pop-punk bands. There was talk of them getting back together a few years ago, but they said they're all too far apart for something like that to happen.

Re: Let's talk about music
I do get most of my 'new stuff' in tip offs from mainstream media... mags, shows, advertisements. Was watching Letterman the other night and saw Manchester Orchestra (not an orchestra, btw). Was very impressed. Listening to their newest album (Mean Everything to Nothing) I really like it. I've Got Friends, Shake it Out, The Only One, all good stuff. Kind of strike me as a little Death Cab-bby slash older My Morning Jacket-y. Think I'll go out and buy some more of their stuff.

Re: Let's talk about music
Been listening to
New Dylan album, Together through life. He still continues to amaze me, for being 68 (i think?) I'm very impresses, you can hear the oldness in his voice more so than ever, but I dig
New Prince album: Lotusflow3r - Mplsound - Really rad, one of the best musicians of our time imo, this album definately has a heavy Hendrix influence on it. theres a few songs that could be skipped over, but I'm impresses that he still puts out quality music
Finally been listening to Arlow Guthrie and the Dillards - 32 cent postage due album: All recordings of his dads songs, really great folksy bluegrass stuff, highly recommended if you like good music! I went and saw Arlow a few weeks back at the Carnegie Library in Homestead, wonderful show, the man is a simply amazing storyteller!
anyone listening to any of these?

The new Dylan is really good. I also bought the wonderful, if expensive "Anthology of American Folk Music"-Box which is incredibly beautiful and awesome.
Anyone checked out the new Maximo Park yet?

Offtopic, but the OP on this thread hasn't visited LGP in three plus years.
The more you know...
Dylan album has my interest piqued. Great interview in the current Rolling Stone magazine.
I am currently enjoying the Easy Star All Star's version of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band. Reggae!

Just a solid mashup of a song I can't stand (Soulja Boy) and a group that I do like (Pendulum - Slam)
Surprisingly mixes real well.

Just watched Wilco's new concert DVD Ashes of American Flags
Rolling Stone said it in their latest issue, but it's one of the best concert films I've seen since The Last Waltz.
Nels Cline is insane.
