OK. So, the Bucs split a series with the Phillies.
The Phillies suck. So, yeah. The Bucs split a series with the Phillies.
Find dem bats, Bucs.

Wooooo, Buccos found dem bats! 10 runs!
Booooo, would've been nice if they hadn't given up 11.
Polanco trips?! Man, sometimes I think if this team didn't have bad luck, then they'd have no luck at all.
Helluva job to come back, though. They didn't quit.
I dunno, NC, I'm trying to keep my usual cool (
heh), but this team... I just don't know what to make of them from one week to the next.

Hard to stay positive about this team right now. But as they say, "it's still early", so I am going to hang in there. At least for a while.

Re: 2015 Pittsburgh Pirates Thread
This game has an uneasy feel to it, as most of them do these days.
No run support for AJ again.
Finally, a couple of insurance runs in the top of the 8th. Now 3-0, Buccos. Let's go, Bucs!
Drama in the bottom of the 9th started by an error by Kang: 2 on, 1 out. Deep FO-9 puts runners at the corners with 2 out...whew.
Raise it to celebrate avoiding losing 4 in a row and being swept in the process.

I knew I was going to be in Chicago on business at the same time as the Pirates for all three days. I was disappointed at first that I'd be working at the times the games were going on. Other than today I'm not sorry I missed it.Lt. Dish wrote:Wooooo, Buccos found dem bats! 10 runs!

As bad as this has been at times it's not hard to imagine these guys turning it around and making a run at it.

Re: 2015 Pittsburgh Pirates Thread
Frankie got pasted last night. : (
Bucs chip away over 5 innings to get 5 back, but once again... I feel like they go down 1 or 2, and then the bats go cold, or they go down several, the bats awaken for a rally, but the hole's too deep to begin with. Pitching's there and the bats aren't, or the bats are there but the pitching isn't. They have to get both on the same (hopefully, correct) page soon.
Nice of Pete to hit a homer in a guy's boat in the river. That was the highlight of the game.

This season feels like a real step backwards so far. The Cards are still the Cards, the Reds have fallen off, but the Cubs jumped over us.Lt. Dish wrote:Frankie got pasted last night. : (

This is far from over but it would be nice to see signs of life. Soon.

Perfect afternoon with the bucs. AJ keeping that era under 2 and had a crucial at bat to avoid a double play.

Make sure you read about Michael Keaton Douglas at Friday's bucco game in Atlanta.

Waited until he was leaving to confront him personally... Pittsburgh fans know the rules of engagement there...penny lane wrote:Make sure you read about Michael Keaton Douglas at Friday's bucco game in Atlanta.

So the Pirates are on their way to losing a series vs. the Brewers. Ignominious, as these Brewers push the boundaries of bleccchh.

Pirates laying an 11-0 beat down (15 hits) on the ChiSox in the top of the 7th.
This means they'll be one-hit in each game the rest of the week, with Spellcheckzija flirting with a perfect game on Thursday.

Re: 2015 Pittsburgh Pirates Thread
Of course:
--> Cards are in a series vs. the Phillies. Destruction of the Phils is predictable and certain.
--> Pirates lose to the Nats (ugh) last night and face Max Scherzer today. Naturally (no pun intended), Harper has recovered just fine, Nats have gotten to Frank (and have gotten some bounces, too), Bucs are getting killed, it looks like Scherzer's perfect game is inevitable.
Kiss my Nats-, Caps-, and Ravens-loathing butt, Nationals.
If this keeps up, the Bucs will be back at 7 games out by tomorrow. Nothing like going 8-2 in the last 10 just to tread water in the division/wild card.

Re: 2015 Pittsburgh Pirates Thread
Am I the only one subjecting myself to the horror that is this Buccos-Nats series?
I can't tell if the Bucs are just having a down series and looking like little leaguers or the Nats are better than their record shows. I mean, they're just KILLING us, running our pitchers out of the park. It's awful.

You're not alone. This was a tough weekend for us Bucco fans. I think it's a little of both. After facing some less talented teams, the Buccos got a dose of reality this weekend, unfortunately. I'm hopeful they can learn from this, especially when they face other talented (better?) teams. Maybe they can dole out the same to the Nats when they visit da Burgh next month.

Yep, PG88. I thought the Giants series meant that previous lessons "stuck." But it does look like they got overconfident after facing MIL, PHI, and CWS. Anyhow, they can and need to regroup and get back at it vs. the Reds and Braves.PenGator88 wrote:You're not alone. This was a tough weekend for us Bucco fans. I think it's a little of both. Meanwhile, it was nice to see the Cards take the day off vs. the worst team in baseball, facing a pitcher making his MLB debut and getting clobbered in the process. Hallelujah!

Nothing's easy vs. the Reds, though.
Polanco, figure out this sliding thing, 'K?
Billy Hamilton steals 3rd, and I'm bracing myself for disappointment. But, no! Deal with dat Martay catch, Frazier. LOL. He's standing there like the 2009 Stunned Caps Fan.
