If McGroarty and Koivunen are ready to be full time contributors next season then that will make next season much more fun to watch. We've been waiting to get some legit prospects into the lineup for a long time now. Way too many veteran place holders. Even if we stink next season, I would rather lose with this type of lineup instead of a bunch of Heinen's and Acciari's.

McG-Sid-Rust
Koivunen-Geno-Rakell
Ponomarev-Novak-Tomasino
Dewar-Lizotte-Poulin

Trade Hayes, Heinen, Acciari.

Defense is up in the air. Need to see what happens with Karlsson. Hopefully KD retains so we can get a nice return. Hopefully we don't see any more trades of us taking veteran contracts back for draft picks. No more Hayes type deals. We already have too many picks the next 3 years.

Let's ice a team with some youth and spunk instead of a veteran laden team that shows up once a month.

Oh and we need to bring in a new young coach obviously!
If KD could trade Hayes, Heinen, and Acciari he should win GM of the year. The only way to trade them is to offer a good young player or high draft pick with them. Unfortunately we'll probably need to just ride it out with them.

DK is either delusional or on the Pens payroll. His article today on how great the Pens are run is beyond silly.

RMG has a brain. Knows how to talk and makes some decent points among the standard media blabla. Lets see a few more games.

DK had a decent pod about Koivunen and McGroarty today. Pointing out some of the learning process that's well in progress

Could not read it past a couple of paragraphs. We have already discussed what a pathetic bunch of sycophantic imbeciles the media that covers the Pens are and that guy is apparently trying for the crown as Lord of the Idiots.

A lot of college players now eligible to sign. Pens are reportedly interested in Dalton Bancroft. Big forward playing for Cornell.

I don't know if Hayes, Heinen or Acciari can be traded this summer. I would like at least 1 - if not 2 or 3 - to be traded then (maybe as an add-in in another deal?) but I do think all 3 could be dealt at next year's deadline, even if they bring back 5th or 6th rounders. Don't really want them to wait that long but they may have no choice.

I think it's safe to say this experiment should be over. He is completely invisible on the ice.

Yup, worth a try with how he was playing in the A, but not an NHL'er

Not sure why they stopped the UDFA route, even players like ZAR and Sheary are reasons enough to keep the practice. I'd rather a UDFA than most of the scrubs that have come and gone over the past several years.

Who cares if Dalton Bancroft is nothing more than an AHL player, his presence will be competition to improve other people.

Yeah, we should definitely add one or two of those college FA's if possible. Just gotta watch our contract limit, although that won't kick into next year.

A contract signed by a college free agent counts towards the 50-contract limit. Only exception is for junior players that sign their ELC and are returned to their junior teams.

We're at 48 contracts now so we're close to that limit. I hope they look at TJ Hughes, his production hasn't ascended but he's been a model of consistency. Obviously his ties to Rutger might help. I like the kid from Holy Cross as well.

Yes he was, knew I was missing someone. He's been a good find.

At one point, Sheary was outscoring all the 1st round draft picks from his class, except I think the top 2 or 3. It's been years since I checked, but he was a really good pickup.

If the bottom 6 was mostly DOC, I think the team would be pretty good.

Like I said, low risk, no problem taking a chance. But we have bottom 6 guys coming out the wazoo. Even the few that have looked good, like Tomasino, are still likely 3rd liners at best, and never going to show the consistency needed to stay in a top 6 role.

I agree but Kunitz and Dupuis weren't really top 6 guys. Rust and Jake became that over time. Fedotenko really wasn't either. Get the right 1st or 2nd line guy and the risk in UDFA signings might push a bottom 6 guy to the top 6. More competition is always good.
