Re: Wedding Planning Thread
nah...decided that for the job I have now and likely in the near/mid future I need something that's tough and I don't need to worry too much about damage. I do a good bit of work with tools, machines, building, etc.

gotta love my fiancee. I tell her to ask me before she buys anything. So now she's asking, but when I question it or say no, she throws a hissy fit. lol

We plan on going to goodwill or the salvation army and buying plates and candle holders to do the same sort of structure, and then paint them our colors.

This was the only real thing we splurged on decoration wise, and it was simply because I didnt feel like trying to make it myself. We've been collecting mason jars and her centerpieces are going to incorporate those, and as long as we dont do anything permanent to them I think we could resell them for at least 50% of what we paid for them, which was less than 40 cents a piece.count2infinity wrote:We plan on going to goodwill or the salvation army and buying plates and candle holders to do the same sort of structure, and then paint them our colors.

Re: Wedding Planning Thread
speaking of mason jars, if they were filled with a clear substance not necessarily available at local state stores, would that be an acceptable wedding gift (invite pending of course)mac5155 wrote:This was the only real thing we splurged on decoration wise, and it was simply because I didnt feel like trying to make it myself. My fiancee ordered a pair of these boots to go with her dress and knock out the "something blue" theme

She ordered them Dec 10, and I had forgotten about them. She still doesn't have them. I'm raising hell with the customer service at countryoutfitters.com

Re: Wedding Planning Thread
We booked our reception place last night. We're both just about to graduate college (her masters, my bach) so money is very tight as neither of us have 'real' jobs. We got a nice little hall in our town, a community center basically, for $425. Includes two bartenders, tap system for kegs, ice and 12 oz cups for the beer.
Got a question for you guys though. I have a buddy who has over 30,000 songs on his computer. All are legit rips from CD or purchases itunes so the quality on all is goin to be very good. We're considering just renting a speaker setup and a little bit of the dance floor lighting, telling him to make a playlist of songs and lettin it go for the most part. He would have to potentially be at the computer to do certain things like the father/daughter dance or change songs when we do our first dance or whatnot, but we're thinking it wouldnt be too bad. He is a good friend so I don't want him stuck at the computer all night, I want him to be able to enjoy himself. We figured he could make a playlist of songs for slow dance, an a playlist of club music or whatever and just switch back and forth or whatever.
Is that too cheap, would it look bad? DJs are flippin expensive!
