what do the gin drinkers here drink? I'm a fan of bombay sapphire and tanqueray rangpur, but have never ventured a lot past those two (other than crappy stuff like seagrams)

If you're drinking gin straight, you probably have a problem.

The most appropriate statement is I never drink gin because: gross bro.

Try a Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic.
If you don't like that, then you probably don't like gin.

Love, love, love Rangpur in gin & tonics, with regular Tanqueray a fine second choice. Beefeater's will do on the odd chance Tanqueray is unavailable. Do not care for Bombay at all, and would drink something other than gin if that was the only one available. For martini's (ie, straight, because who really needs vermouth?), I like Hendrick's a lot.

Hendrick's and Bluecoat gin are both very good. If you can find it, Junipero Gin from Anchor Distilling is great.

Speaking of gin, does anyone else like Pimm's No. 1? I've really gotten into Pimm's this summer, and I wish more of the English fruit cups would make their way across the pond. A fruit cup is a liqueur designed to be added to a soft drink like lemonade or ginger ale. Pimm's is based on gin with a bunch of other flavors and liquors added. Take a tall glass, add ice and a big shot of Pimm's, and top off with lemonade. If you have any fruit or garnish around like oranges, strawberries, lemons, limes, mint, etc., throw some in too. Great drink on a hot summer day.

inspired by this and slappys suggestion, this gentleman got some bulleit over the weekend and had a glass on the rocks the other night after a day of playing baseball/volleyball.

this gentleman slept well, lets put it that way.

Not in PA, apparently. I looked at the LCB's website, and Rip Van Winkle doesn't show up in any of the categories—not even special order.

Gin is essentially a flavored white spirit (basically the original flavored vodka), so the quality of the gin is highly dependent on the quality of the flavorings, the number and proportion of aromatics, and the skill and care in which they are used. More expensive gin is generally going to have more expensive and varied ingredients. It strikes me as something where going cheap is a bad, bad option.

Was at a wedding this weekend. Open bar at rehearsal dinner had Macallan 18. Thank you, father of the groom.

Related, the bar at the crappy hotel had Macallan 25, which is now going for $800+ a bottle, more than double since 2007. AndImAllLikeWhaaaaaaaaa!?!
