Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
Bumping for a recommendation. My brother, mother, and I went for dinner tonight to Tyma'z (http://www.tymaz.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) on Rochester Road in Ross, near the high school. The food is Middle Eastern, specifically Syrian. I had lamb shish kabob, my brother had beef schwarma, and my mother beef moussaka. We also had the large mezze platter (hummus, baba ganoush, tabbouli, feta/olives, and grape leaves) and baklava for dessert. We all split and shared. I've had a fair amount of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, and holy crap is Tyma'z good. Every item was superb, from the apps to the dessert. That was one of the nicest meals I've had in quite a while. Considering this part of Ross is largely a wasteland of mediocre chain restaurants, this place is immediately jumps near the top of my list of go-to restaurants (next to Taj Mahal).

I've driven by that place a bunch of times, and I had the same general vibe too. We went because Tyma'z did a Groupon a while back, and my brother bought one. It's not too fancy inside, but it is nicely and tastefully decorated. I wasn't expecting much, but the food blew away my expectations.Letang Is The Truth wrote:I've always been afraid of tymaz. I've never touched that place either just from driving by. It's also been 100 other restaurants before. It's really close to my house so maybe I will check it out, thanks!Shyster wrote:I've driven by that place a bunch of times, and I had the same general vibe too. Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
I went there during the summer, and it was terrible. Ordered a quesadilla that was ice cold, like they pulled it out of the fridge/freezer/cooler and threw it on a plate.cheesesteakwithegg wrote:Anyone ever been to Cadillac Ranch at Settler's Ridge? I checked out their menu online, and it looked decent. However, I read some reviews and most people just trashed the place.
Of the four friends that I went with, two thought they food was "meh", another had the same complaint about "cold, flavorless food", and although they never said why, one friend said they'd never be back.
I'll be in Pittsburgh a few times within the next week. I have a feeling I might be stopping at Green Forest on one of those trips.

element. i went there about 2 months ago. really enjoyed it. good drink/wine list. had a mushroom sherry soup that was remarkable. we also had a meat cheese tasting platter which was decent. i have heard some pretty horrid reviews though. seems to be hit or miss.Kraftster wrote:What is the place that went in where Palomino was? Ok so on my Droid X, I have this app called places, it tells me every restaurant going from close to farthest and uses google reviews. I am infinitely happy to have this phone now.

The Farm. Yep, its fantastic -- pulled pork, filet, and chicken/bacon sliders. You can get all of the same if you want too. I enjoy the Hamburgeusa quite a bit too. I worry too because it always seems kind of dead a few of the times I've been there.Letang Is The Truth wrote:my bro lives right next to it. love it. hope more people start going, every time i have been its been empty. love the slider sampler.Kraftster wrote:yes yes yesLetang Is The Truth wrote:has anyone tried tavern 245 downtown?

Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
slappy just got the reuben there for lunch and said it was better than the Tap Room, which is a solid reuben. Of course, slappy is a total reuben neophyte, so, his opinion should be looked at accordingly.Letang Is The Truth wrote:they have pretty awesome drink specials too. i get the farm every time pretty much but had the open faced caprese sandwich once and it was solid tooKraftster wrote:The Farm. I always get Negra Modelo with the hamburguesa and its just about perfect.
