The near-onomatopoeia aspect is kind of amusing.

This is precisely my point. Although, it does irritate me that, knowing it is currently illegal, they chose to do something so stupid anyway.DudeMan2766 wrote:I have no problem with weed, but why on Earth would you even want to smoke with 16 weeks of NFL football and practices staring you in the face? Seems you'd want your lungs in top shape for this.
But even on top of that, assuming it was legal, pot is really, really not good for your lungs. Just from an athletic standpoint alone it's stupid.

Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
20 grams sounded like a lot to me, but apparently anything under 30 grams is considered a small amount of marijuana per PA law and a misdemeanor offense.

Is it that no one got caught or we didn't have potheads on the team under Cowher?

Does no one remember Bam Morris? He was caught with like a trunk full of weed not too long after outplaying Emmitt Smith in the Super Bowl?

Tim Worley and Bam Morris both had drug issues while with the Steelers just for starters. I'm sure there were more.DelPen wrote:Is it that no one got caught or we didn't have potheads on the team under Cowher?

I mean, I was really hoping for those two to come out and light it up this year. Not sure this is what I had in mind.

Wow, 20 grams is kind of a lot...almost 3/4 of an ounce. I really don't care if guys smoke if the offseason or even occasionally in-season, but it's just so so dumb to be driving around with that quantity.

20 grams is about 3/4 of an ounce. Not abnormal for a more well off stoner.DelPen wrote:Isn't that 1 gram? So 20 times that.shafnutz05 wrote:So twice that.Spoiler:

lol, decimal point fail. Like I said, I could care less about pot in a normal situation, but just stupid for two NFL players (especially the two top RBs for a team) heading into the season. Extraordinarily selfish

Yeah 20 g's is a boatload, I thought it was a typo at first. How stupid do you have to be to drive around with $400 of weed, let alone doing it drunk. And I was surprised to see anything under 30 grams is just a misdemeanor, I figured the cutoff would be much less.largegarlic wrote:Wow, 20 grams is kind of a lot...almost 3/4 of an ounce. Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
The DUI was for driving while stoned which is treated differently than driving while drunk I believe, but I could be wrong. The Steelers set a precedent with Santonio Holmes of giving a one game suspension for a pot related arrest so I suspect both will at least receive that.

Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Joe Gilliam had a ton of talent and pissed away his NFL career from drugs. He eventually became homeless and died from drug use when he was 40ish. I'm pretty sure drugs paved the way for the end of Ernie Holmes career. He was charged once with coke posession but beat the rap. He was gone a year or so later and out of the league a couple years after that. He could have been a HOFr IMO. Many national media types thought he should have been NFL defensive MVP one season.NashvilleCat wrote:Tim Worley and Bam Morris both had drug issues while with the Steelers just for starters. If you really want to go back in time Big Daddy Lipscomb died of a Heroin overdose in the Burgh when he was a Steeler.

So does this mean Haley will call 30 between the tackles carries for Archer against Cleveland?
Really they should just suspend the both of them for Week 1. If BRoeth can't throw the offense on his back against them the team isn't going anywhere.
