No idea if the food is good (if you go, please post a review), but the blog on getting the restaurant up-and-running is very interesting. As an avid food TV watcher, is it a prerequisite for every young chef these days, male or female, to have a tattoo sleeve?

17th Street Cafe is my favorite restuarant in Pittsburgh. I looooove restaurants, and that place is my favorite.

If I may recommend two restaurants from my area. Chef Robinson's in Jeannette, is good home cooked food at a very good price. I had a Bacon Cheese Burger and it was outstanding. Also in Mt Pleasant there is a place called Grille 31. Best soups and sandwichs hands down.

Salt is really good, thought its not traditional. A lot of inventive stuff, particularly for Pittsburgh. I had a recruiting dinner there recently, was on point.Letang Is The Truth wrote:thank you mr. adminAdmin wrote:http://www.saltpgh.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Letang Is The Truth wrote:it looks pretty cool from the outside, menu written in chalk on the wall, pretty open kitchen, eating area. crowded as crap tho

BRGR is hit or miss. First time I went there it was awesome, and the service was perfect. The second time, my burger was practically raw (I asked for medium), and the fries came out only when the three of us had finished our burgers. Then, we tried to book a party there of 20 people on a Tuesday, and the lady who answered was the biggest **** of all time about it. Really turned me off to the place.pittsoccer33 wrote:I'm heading to BRGR in East Lib this weekend. Heard some cool things about it.

Trust me, the Reuben at Tavern is significantly superior to the Tap Room offering.Kraftster wrote:slappy just got the reuben there for lunch and said it was better than the Tap Room, which is a solid reuben. Of course, slappy is a total reuben neophyte, so, his opinion should be looked at accordingly.Letang Is The Truth wrote:they have pretty awesome drink specials too. i get the farm every time pretty much but had the open faced caprese sandwich once and it was solid tooKraftster wrote:The Farm. Yep, its fantastic -- pulled pork, filet, and chicken/bacon sliders. You can get all of the same if you want too. I enjoy the Hamburgeusa quite a bit too. I worry too because it always seems kind of dead a few of the times I've been there.
I always get Negra Modelo with the hamburguesa and its just about perfect.

Additional recommendation I recently stumbled upon -- Cross Keys Inn in Fox Chapel. Cool environment, its a gigantic mansion, and you eat in a private room if youre seated on the second floor. Some are rooms with seating for 2 or 4, some are giant dining rooms with seating for 10. The downstairs is really cool as well, traditional seating. Fantastic food, and the kind of place that is perfect on a winter night.

For some bizarre reason, that site is blocked for me columbia. Is it Ludwig's Garten? Because from reading the reviews it appears that place closed

There is a place right on the main line in Paoli called TJ's that has an unbelievable beer menu. The nice thing is, we can walk there from my place.columbia wrote:Yikes.shafnutz05 wrote:For some bizarre reason, that site is blocked for me columbia. Is it Ludwig's Garten? Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
I dont recall the drinks being super expensive, but could be. I dont really care about who the other clientele is that frequent places -- poseurs or otherwise. If the food is good, and the service competent, works for me. 9-12 bucks for a burger isn't that outlandish LITT. Most of the awful chains like Friday's are in that range.Letang Is The Truth wrote:brgr is for poseurs. drinks are way to expensive. burgers are pretty solid but way to pricey.slappybrown wrote:BRGR is hit or miss. Re: Restaurant Recommendations?
Everyone has recommended Monk's, that is definitely on my list.
I've never lived in center city (or even Manayunk) so haven't experienced a lot of the places in the city. Need to take the train down and try some of these places.
